Hmm, it’s working in a PM test thread.

3d6: 3 + 1 + 2 = 6

@RogerBW asked for a die roll:
3d5: 5 + 5 + 2 = 12

@Jack-Spirio I’ve just bumped you up to user level 2. Give it another try?

Aha! Problem solved!

The new version has a WYSIWYG editor by default. You can tell it’s active because when you’re trying a post there’s just one lot of text at the bottom of the screen, the window you’re typing into, rather than two.

So when you type a left-bracket into that, it assumes you mean an actual left-bracket, not the various ways this might be interpreted by Markdown. So what it puts into the post is a backslash followed by the left bracket character. It only shows you the left bracket, because it’s being WYSIWYG.

The way round this is to click on the button at top left of the editing window. Right now it probably shows ā€œAā€. Click on it and it’ll change to ā€œMā†“ā€. That gives you the old style editor (with two windows), where what you type is what goes into the post. And if you put the roll command in in that mode, the square brackets won’t be escaped, and the system will process them normally.

(You can change modes after you start typing and that won’t break anything.)

That’s got the backslash escapes.

@Delwayne asked for a die roll:
oh okay…
2d7: 6 + 1 = 7

I thought them text boxes looked different

sorry for the delay everyone. it seems I forgot to save the board game state at turn zero from the last time. I’m having to reset things… (yeah, lots of tiles and pieces)
