Okay students. here is the setup. It took time to just get your card (pics) for each player. I just chose everything from bag and shuffle/dealt cards. I could have just taken photos would have been quicker. Each of you will be getting your cards that you will tell me which ones you’ll be keeping.

After everyone has chosen their cards, we will go into choosing starting chip cards (with their unique goal tokens on them). Last player will choose first.

New turn order (based on last game total victory points)(winner is last in this game)
1- Aaron
2- Joe
3- Von
4- Jack

normally your cards are kept in hand and not visible to other players. Let me know if you’d rather have them visible (all the time); rather than you always having to go look at your other PM of what cards you have in your hand.

first to choose is: Jack, Von, Joe, Aaron

Those Goals are really bad, though choice

I will take the last with the Boats

(Von) just so you know, you do pick before Joe. So, if his is the one you wanted…

all good. he can have it

Just a quick idea.
In TM start player was determined by passing, but later they introduced variable turn order, where not only the start play, but all player orders where decided by passing.
Couldn’t we do the same here with the round order? Instead of only deciding the first player, decide full player order with the points and break ties like normal?
IMO that would be fairer for the other players that now get assign turn order by being close to the one who got the most points. Also it’s easier implemented in a virtual game then a real one, where people actually sit next to each other.

I’m willing to give it a go
