City of Six Moons

I just bought this game

(Which is available in the UK from second chance games

But probably easy enough to get in America).

I’ve had my eye on it but the recent spacebiff article

Reminded me and the article suggested it was a nice experience.

So the idea of the game is that it’s a found alien object which means that while there is a rulebook

It looks like this

(from spacebiff)

And part of the idea of the game is to decipher the game.

I’m going to give it a go but I thought it might be fun if others were interested to do so in some form of collective effort/moral support.

I’ll post some thoughts in here as/if I untangle it but I thought it’d be nice to to open a thread to see if anyone else was going to try.

It sounds intriguing, but also like far too much work. I don’t think I could design a good game myself, so I doubt my ability to do so from what Six Moons provides.

Happy to lend a vaguely helpful hand

It probably is quite laborious

I can say that about a few games on my shelf.
No, wait, they just have confusingly written rules.

Is it a game or art?

If it’s a game, I feel like they took the most awkward part of “legacy games” and leaned into it.

I’m very curious what you find.

Oh I remember that review, it sounded very intriguing.

I think it’s a real game but with rules not written in text language.

Ha I only just realised it was a solo game (it’s under “family games” on the shop website!

I think this is better as arguing the toss on interpretation feels like a fast route to a fight!

I reckon “youngest player goes first” will be your starting point

Last player to be stuck in a black hole

Last time I played Haggis, where the start is “last player to visit Scotland”, we were all in Scotland. Going by some theories, the same may apply to the black hole rule.

Ha! The person with no clue how to play goes…?!
