Cancelled my Age of Rails: South Africa kickstarter to preorder the new El Grande from GamesLore.
I expect the former will be available at retail cheaper and the KS is for the metal trains I don’t want.

Where are you getting “small box” from? The box is 10 inches high.

Looks like the standard AllPlay box f.e. QE, Bear Raid, Factory Funner… and that is probably half the size of the standard square box. So I‘d say „smaller box“ at least.
I like the cover. Not sure about the camel colors. edit: on second look. They are fine they just don‘t look quite so edible.

The old candy camel design is such a pain in the edition I bought (i.e. good luck getting the riders to stay on), so my interest is absolutely piqued by that change. I might regret having bought it when I did.
I have been fully engrossed in work-related and outdoor activities this summer, so I must say that I’ve not really been thinking too much about boardgames of late (hence my prolonged absence from this forum), but I am starting to get a weird itch that makes me want to reacquire some of the FASA Star Trek and Battletech titles from my youth. They all disappeared over the course of several international moves, and I can feel my midlife crisis-fevered brain pining for them after decades of not really caring very much. We’ll see what becomes of it.
