Only increased my play count by 4. At the same time, at least I got one of my lesser played games to the table (Everdell), and that my wife and her brother have enjoyed our two plays. Helps justify all the money I dropped on the KS a couple months ago.
25 total plays, so 1/4th the way there, but 1/3rd of the way through the year. I am hoping to get a few plays in for Father’s Day and my birthday, when I can pick games that we have not played before and there is a reasonable chance they will get played. All part of the “challenge” I suppose.
I played a lot of games on BGA especially Rallyman GT, Race, Hardback, Beyond the Sun and recently added Splendor and Tash Kalar to that mix so those may break into the list as well.
I am sad Oath got pushed out for now but playing solo is not exactly the point of this game.
Did get a few games in. Played the first mission of The ??? Initiative, and that was fun, as well as a game of Age of War (originally “Risk the Dice Game”) and Colt Express with my colleague for our weekly “talk about game” streams.
I also painted 65 individual tanks, APCs, and helis as proxies for Battletech, a game I have never played and have no idea if I will actually enjoy. But, hey, lots of painted tanks. I guess that’s a plus!
No movement still. I see from last month I was going to paint all 26 Clan Mechs for Battletech (I have). And I have managed to slow my purchase of new games to a crawl, which is also important.
Sadly, one of my most consistent gaming buddies and his partner are moving away (about 2 hours down the road, too far for a casual visit, but close enough for occasional visits). So even when “all this is over” (whatever that means), it will take years to get anywhere close to the volume of gaming I had in the Beforetimes. Oh well.
Breaking even this month on the second component of the challenge, with two new games in (Carnival of Monsters and Everdell: Collector’s Edition) and two games played (Carnival of Monsters and London Second Edition).
Hope everyone has a joyful June of gaming! I’m off to find some Help from Future Self to get things back on track.

8 games played in June. Not bad! Added bonus, I am in a BGA game of El Grande, so should be able to check that off next month. Also got the app for Castles of Mad King Ludwig, and think I will be counting the games against the AI in my plays, as I am not very good at the game, so they still give me a run for my money. That will make Castles achievable, methinks
Nada. Nothing. Rien.
Painted a few models (the LAAT/le for Star Wars Legion and a unit of Karakuri for Infinity), watched some good shows, but no board games.
I did buy a couple new games this month (Beyond the Sun and MicroMacro being the two big ones), but that’s about it. Purchases have definitely slowed, for better or for worse.
No progress on my list this month, although I did play the two new games that I gained: Holi (raffle prize) and New York Zoo (impulse purchase which I have now sold).
Railroad Ink Lush Green 45/10 (oops the app happened, about 15 plays are physical copy)
Die Crew: Mission Tiefsee 22/10 (mostly two player)
Rallyman GT 8/10
Chronicles of Crime 6/10
Red Rising 6/10
So I am sure Space Base will overtake Chronicles of crime again. Die Crew is the new break in. I must admit it is far easier to do a dynamic challenge. For fun I added a 20/5 challenge and it turns out to fulfill such a challenge I would need 2 more plays.
I’m a bit embarrassed to say I’ve pretty much abandoned my challenge at this point. I didn’t realize how much you really need to focus on just those games and I love playing a variety. As well I’m probably in my acquisition stage of being a gamer, so there’s still a load of games I haven’t played. And as I play more I find my old favourites are maybe not as amazing as I thought, and the idea of playing them so much is less appealing.
So maybe next year I’ll do a 20x5 but for now I think I’m done with my 10x10.
Good luck to the rest of you though!
Continuing the trend for the not yet played section: Two In Decrypto & Star Trek: Five-Year Mission Two Played Chronicles of Crime & Mystery Rummy: Jack the Ripper
Chronicles of Crime was engrossing. We blitzed the first case, but not so the second, as perceived time pressure led us to miss some clues. Back to the drawing board.
Almost certainly there’ll be enough Rallyman and PanLeg by the end of the year to reach the total. Right now I have a 9×9. (All right, the three Downforces were inspired by this.)
My easy mode challenge sits at 99/100 missing just one more game of Roll for the Galaxy. After my partner lost the previous game yesterday quite badly, I guess it will be a couple of days until I can convince him to play me again.
This challenge was dynamically curated from my most played games and includes a bunch of solo games.
Beyond the Sun (11/10)
Calico (10/10, all solo)
Die Crew: Mission Tiefsee (24/10)
Hardback (26/10, mostly on BGA)
Pandemic Legacy 2 (10/10)
Race for the Galaxy (10/10, all BGA/App)
Railroad Ink Challenge (100/10, at least 10 on the table but many many more on the app, all solo)
Rallyman GT (10/10, all on BGA)
Sprawlopolis (14/10, all solo)
Roll for the Galaxy (9/10)
I have also completed a 20x5 and created two more 10x10 challenges: one where I tried to exclude all my solo games that sits at 73/100 and one that has only games that are new to me in 2021 which is at 86/100. I think I want to tackle my “shelf of opportunity” next. But this really needs me to get back to game nights with more than 2 people
