#185: What Makes a Game Worth Recommending?

All right, we need to talk about Sakka. Another staple of kid’s shows is often The Annoying One. I don’t know why, but they’re often there. Steven Universe had Ronaldo, but they knew to use him sparingly. Sakka is so aggressively obnoxious in the first two episodes it is a miracle anyone makes it to episode three. He could have just been the complainer, but additionally his monumental and gratuitous misogyny is so bad that one wonders what Suki (an awesome character) ever saw in him. Sure, he gets better, but always in my mind the Early Days Sakka looms over the show like some terrible shadow.

They didn’t play Regecide this week. Unsubscribing!

I agree on Parks. I was expecting another simplistic game, but it was interesting. The action selection does feel old-school Euro in which you want to move fast or move slow. Move your first traveller or your second. Yep. I wouldn’t mind a game of Parks. And that fact that it is prettiful really helps.

Sokka never bothered me to that degree. Yes, he’s “the obnoxious one.” Though I can give reasons why his personality is the way it is, that doesn’t excuse it. Even so, I enjoyed watching him grow and grow-up.

I’m happy someone else found Cantalooop awkward. I felt like the only on!

Why is PARKS often (usually?) written in all capitals? It’s that way on the box, but so are a lot of games (like Wingspan).

Me not knowing the character nor the show, misspelling Sokka didn’t really help.
