Wishlists dreams

As for wishlist stuff there’s a tonne I like to get, but I’ve really wanted Too Many Bones for a while now. Fantasy, adventure, and dice rolling are right up my alley. Also I really think tactility is a big part of boardgames so I like the idea of the chips and premium components. I’m going to try to grab it after Christmas so hopefully it lives up to the hype.

Not so much wishlist as it seems pretty readily available but I’m certainly trying to decide whether £50 is too much for nostalgia - I want to buy this: https://rebellionunplugged.com/block-mania/

It is a LOT of luck but I have such good memories of playing it as a kid.

Fortune and Glory , which is simply not available in the UK (add £80 postage to the £100-200 2nd hand price)

And, weirdly, Martian Dice.

Weirder, I’m passionate about this game. It doesn’t come out very often, but as my only sub-sub-filler it’s a stalwart on sunny patio days with drinks and conversation. Rare to have a game you can truly play in the background. It’s hardly anything worth discussing, but it’s a laugh generator and that’s what makes it a keeper.

I have Zombie Dice—I have tried Martian Dice on BGA and I think it is better. I recently got one of the expansions for zombie dice and I do hear that the added stuff makes zombie dice more fun and moves it closer to Martian Dice… it is more available than Martian Dice (which was keen to buy but have since let go from my wishlists). While I do not rate Zombie Dice highly, it is one of those things that really do not need any brain involved and as such can be handy in getting people to start playing.

Yes, Martian Dice seems to be rated just a bit higher than zombie and the other nearest alternatives. Totally unavailable though, it’s on my list to check eBay for.

Somehow, this seems very appropriate…

Weirdly enough I was playing this for the first time in ages last night. (Mostly it was weird because I didn’t have any opponents and it’s not a solo game – I just fancied rolling those dice, and decided to see how many turns it took me to reach a winning score.)

FYI it’s very much available in some parts, if you’re willing to pay for shipping.

Gameslore have just posted a restock of a fortune and glory expansion. Not sure if this interests you, or if it’s a good sign for the base game. I saw it and remembered seeing someone on here looking for the game and thought I should let you know!

Thank you! Yes, I’ll take any lead to get the base game

Yeah, Coolstuffinc also has the Treasures and Temples expansion on sale right now for $30. Was surprised to see that, as I thought the game was out of print.

I found the base A Touch of Evil for not too silly a price but I’m still looking for its expansions…

I have been successful on acquiring some hard-to-finds like the Z-Man edition of Lords of Scotland and also completed my Blue Moon decks. I have remained stupid and uncompromising that I want the whole original Blue Moon stuffs because the OG have tarot size cards while Blue Moon Legends has MTG size cards. An incredibly unreasonable reason to prefer one over the other.

I have Age of Assassins and Winner’s Circle left. I decide to find the alea edition called Royal Turf instead of the latter. Alea boxes are very compact.

I am also on the lookout for:
Traders of Osaka - another by Z-Man. Why is it always Z-Man? A vanity hunt, as I own Traders of Carthage.
Strasbourg - rare Feld. Might become not-so-rare once Queen reprints this very soon
Ascending Empires - from -oh bloody hell- Z-Man Games. Dexterity + 4x game.
Push It - poor man’s Crokinole
Arkwright - beige galore. As if Brass wasnt beigey enough for me
Полинезия - a Knizia that was only released in Russian.

I managed to get a copy by just setting up a saved search on eBay. And then bidding on it while I was out at a gig

I’m specifically on a hunt for the Dutch version of Lost Cities (without paying too much) as it has normal sized cards and comes in a double deck box.

Meanwhile, I also wait for the Spielworxx version of Schrille Stille

This seems to be the closest thread to use:

WISHLIST TOP 10s

If you were to put the games you’re most excited to get next into a rough Top 10, what would they be? Not quite the same as the “Most Anticipated” thread, as these aren’t unknowns coming out next year, just the list you’re keeping on hand in case they’re available.

My top 10 in no particular order:

Crokinole
Lord of the Rings: Duel for Middle Earth
Heat: pedal to the metal
Pax Pamir 2nd ed
Beyond the Horizon
El Grande
Ready, Set, Bet!
Tales of the Arthurian Knights
Ra
Earth
(bought it, haven’t played it yet)

And frankly it’d be easy to do an 11-20 list too:

Sea Salt and Paper
Iwari
Honey Buzz
Sagani
(instead of Nova Luna)
Colt Express 10th anniversary big box
Broom Service
Bohnanza: Dhalia
Hanamikoji
Pitch Car

Haven’t yet got onto the Dune: Imperium wagon, might do that

I’d like to try (and probably buy)
Fresh Fish
Roll for the Galaxy
Rebel Princess
Andromeda’s Edge
Imperium: The Contention
Dogs of War
For Science

Annoyingly it seems as though I have a thing for OOP or hard to get games.

Also, anything that @Acacia, @yashima or @lalunaverde like gets added to a watchlist!

Would love to play again
Cuba Libre

Tell me about it!

I already gave up on these but then I have found Glory to Rome and Dicke Damonen through sheer patience

  • Greentown
  • Cannonball Colony
  • Bauernschlau - I am ass mad that Cole Werhle and then SUSD talked about it and now I have to compete in eBay :joy:
  • Hecht im Karpfenteich
  • Manekinecolletion - Knizia game only in JP atm
  • Tiefe Taschen - predecessor of Goodcritters, which is awesome
  • Fast Sloths - it’s out there but I’m keen on a trade then to buy. The recent post makes me want to try it

Ohoh… I need to be careful

Rebel Princess is a neat trick taker. Quite hilarious to evade the suitors. Also very little shelf-space needed.

I just looked at the box size of Andromeda’s Edge. Then I saw a comment on BGG describing the game and at the same time remembered how little play Dwellings of Eldervale has seen and backed off again

Imperium: The Contention and For Science were both put on my radar by SVWAG. But both are apparently deeply out of print though at least the former seemed to have some sort of “we’ll reprint it at some point” announcement somewhere. I have learned to beware what SVWAG finds interesting because my play environment is sufficiently different from theirs… but yeah definitely For Science if it ever reappears.

My current wish/buy-list of games:

  • Lord of the Rings Duel: already in a cart, just needs more stuff to avoid shipping
  • Altay: played at SPIEL
  • Wine Cellar: backing it would have been stupidly expensive but this one is for my partner plus it actually looked pretty cool on the KS page
  • Let’s Go to Japan German edition: is in the making. This is quite cozy (I’ve played on BGA) but the use-case I have for it requires it to be German language
  • Trekking the World 2nd Edition: looked like a good next iteration on the KS page… will want to see what people think when it is available
  • For Science: if it ever popped up would definitely buy
  • Antiquity: reprint please. (I know I have been whining about this everywhere)
  • Tesseract: another Kickstarter I wasn’t even aware of until recently. should be hitting shelves soon. Something something lots of dice, looks pretty neat
  • Glow + Expansion: saw this again at SPIEL this year and it looks so nice on a table (I tried it on BGA and it didn’t click at all). Very tempting.
  • Fast Sloths --this keeps wandering in and out of my field of view @Captbnut’s post on Recent Games put it back in

I have a German friend who bought it for me and then collected it at Christmas and it’s basically a train game
