What are you watching?

We went to see it last night and I enjoyed it. I did not read the book but realized that his memories were slowly coming back and suspected halfway through that he might have been forced in the trip when it was clear he was not originally meant to be on the crew..

Started watching This Life as it is being reshown on iPlayer. Loved this when it came out. A show about a bunch of young lawyers who all live together. More fun than it sounds…

That was so groundbreaking when it first showed! Really enjoyed that, and reading some of the 30 year retrospectives (sob) that have been published recently.

Being of a very similar age to the characters at the time, but having nowhere as much fun as them was funny and semi-frustrating

Good times last Saturday with Kill Bill in the new extended double feature edition.

Oh, nice. I never did see part 2, so that’s probably something to go to if it shows up here :).

The last film I saw was The Cranes are Flying (1957), which was excellent.

I think the first half is better. far more iconic scenes (I really like O-ren most of all – we did get Lady Snowblood on DvD as it apparently inspired this part), but I feel it really needs the closure from the 2nd half.

I’m pretty sure we have Lady Snowblood on DVD somewhere around here. Don’t think we got around to watching it though.

My wife and I binged season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again this weekend. Pretty good, though not as good as the original Netflix seasons 1 and 3. Time to see how season 2 is.

I’ve recently got into Lucifer - the show based on Neil Gaimans idea about the devil retiring from hell.

First few episodes are a bit formulaic and I’ve bounced off it before, but this time it’s really grabbed me. Some really good acting, moral dilemmas, and very pretty people

The Lucifer show is surprisingly good! Almost no crossover with the comic (which is amazing, by the way) but right from the first episodes everyone is really funny and it just works.

I’ve heard good things about the show, but know that it was cancelled before it got any kind of ending, which makes me hesitant to watch it. Firefly still burns all these years later

If you’re talking about the Lucifer TV show where he becomes a nightclub owner in LA and forms a bond with a human detective for a crossover police procedure episodic crime of the week with supernatural and divine soap opera, it ran for a lot of seasons and ended with all storylines tied up with a bow.

Yeah, Lucifer definitely got a proper ending, after season… 7?

It went from Fox to Netflix after Season 3, so maybe that’s a point of confusion?

That would be it. I didn’t realize it got a continuation. Well, in that case…

6 on Netflix (and I think that’s the full series).

I did get back to series 1 (quite some time ago) and re-watched that too, and I enjoyed it more the second time around!

I found that the Taskmaster didn’t irritate me so much because my expectations of him were set appropriately, which meant that the worst thing about S1 was actually one of the contestants (this one guy is the most irritating taskmaster contestant ever). But S1 also has one of my favourite contestants out of all of the series to date, so there’s a balance.

My recommendation is the same as before – best to work backwards from the latest series to the earliest one.

I’m looking forward to S7, whenever that arrives…

We watched Being John Malcovitch last night. Not sure how my wife picked that out. I saw it in the theater when it was released, and hadn’t thought much about it since. I had forgotten just how weird everything about it was. I do recall that the woman I saw it with declined to go to the next movie I suggested…
