Jokes about overuse of the Script-o-Matic 2000 go back at least thirty years to my knowledge, and probably more.
Very true but AI has made the Script-o-Matic oh so real and companies are anxious to use it to save money.
Isnât part of the fun of crime series seeing which clichĂ©s theyâve used and how they combine them?
Seeing as about 60% of tv drama is crime (the other 40% is dystopian sf), itâs asking a lot for them to be original!
Finished Apothecary Diaries Season 1 and 2. Really love it. But found the Shi rebellion plot to be weak. You can see their plots to undermine the Imperial family but did little to set up their rebellion. So they just kidnap Maomao, Loulan escaped, and then thatâs it? A lot of hints were given - such as the Shi men having colour blindness. But thereâs no visibility on what the Shi characters are doing since they are always off-screen. And Loulan spent the entire season being a servant girl rather than being actually Loulan. Shenmei appeared out of nowhere on the last stretch of the season and suddenly sheâs the Big Bad. Seems like it requires two seasons with the pace that they chosen
the 2nd half of S2 is equivalent to book 4 of the light novel.
When I read that I was quite confused what was happening at the stronghold and why and I had no idea that Loulan was Shisui from the books. In the anime there are visual cluesâŠ. I thought #4 was one of the weaker novels.
I wouldnât say it is the fun part at least for me. But you are right about the rest.
I actually sort of enjoy the show, though it isnât great, but I was literally sitting and mentally ticking of the cliches of Banaâs character as they were so very obvious.
I think it is just when I encounter a character that Iâd be embarrassed to have in one of my games I wonder about the writers abilities or laziness.
Just watched Daredevil: Born Again, and it was mostly fine, but a decision they made in Episode 1 was just the worst, laziest writing and the rest of the series never recovered from it.
The other eps were okay, the actors were all great, but Ep1 just ruins it. Seriously, youâre getting paid the big screenwriting bucks on a high-profile Marvel show and thatâs the best youâve got?
Watching the second (and last) season of The Sandman on Netflix. I like it, but the main characterâs insufferableness is really coming through. Literally every other character is more interesting. The actor is doing a fine job with the role, but the role is⊠ugh.
Supposed to start that way, iirc. Maybe too slow character growth for the format.
I just watched something.
It features âtacopiâ, a cute pink octopus-like alien from the âhappy starâ who is on a mission to spread happiness using Doraemon-like happy toys and shit. Who happens to meet a young girl who seems sad, with obvious signs of being bullied that the alien fails to recognise.
Spoilers follow
And then the girl goes goes and fucking commits suicide. Using the âhappy ribbonâ lent to her, no less.
It doesnât take long before we find the alien has a reset switch, but damn, that was not the kid-friendly animation I was led to expect.
And later it seems that her single mum might be a sex-worker, and the main bully is being (emotionally?) abused by her mum, perhaps because her dad is sleeping with the sex-worker mum. Nothing is clear yet, these things are just hinted at.
Oh, and this is a show that my wife let the kids watch before I did, and they love it because tacopi is cuteâŠ
Further spoilers follow
My suspicions were confirmed.
And the alien fails to fix things after dozens of resets, becomes terrified of the bully, freaks out, and murders the bully, breaking the reset switch in the process.
âGrave of the Fireflies is not âanother Ghibli cartoonâ.â
It is definitely not. It is a masterpiece that made two grown men breakdown in tears when they first watched it. I may or may not be one of those men.
Plus of course Ghibli donât make âcartoonsâ. Iâve made my pilgrimage.
Is it this one? Takopi's Original Sin - Wikipedia ?
Because Wikipedia lists the genre as science fiction, horror and dystopianâŠ
As a child I once watched some animated film or show that featured a young boy who was bullied by his older brothers. I remember there were horses. Thatâs all. I also remember having really bad nightmares about it. But then I was hiding behind the sofa when I was watching Heidi and Nils Holgerson.
(I only realized a shortish while ago those kidsâ cartoons I watched as a child were Japanese productions)
I still avoid horror as a genre.
Yes. This is takopi:
Every adult is useless, neglectful, or abusive, and as a result the kids are really fucked up too. I would say horror and dystopian are mis-labels.
It looks kind of cute.
But the plot doesnât sound so cute. But not uninterestingâfor an adult
Kids often donât quite realize how brutal some plots can be. Not sure if this is one of those instances⊠?
Yeah, I crumpled like a tatty old rag. It is a towering masterpiece. Not for the faint-hearted, but not to be missed if possible.
From that picture Iâm getting a Jetsons feel, and I gather theyâre going more on the soap/sitcom side than before.
They go for the family feel that the Fantastic Four should have. The alternate 60s look is really quite effective.
We are seeing this later today!
