Sorry, I can’t remember the objective but I had a choice of two public objectives last round and would like to score the one I didn’t choose! I think it was controlling 6 planets?
I also used 8+ influence in a vote in the last agenda phase, can I score “sway the council”?
So you can only score 1 Public Objective and 1 Secret Objective during the Status phase (there are objectives that score at other times).
To score an objective, you have to complete it during the status phase, not earlier. So, for example, I just spent 8 Resources, right now, to complete the “Erect a Monument” objective. I also spent more than 8 Resources during my turn, but that’s irrelevant: to score any objective, I have to complete the requirements at the moment I am scoring it on the objective itself.
EDIT: But you do control 6 Non-homeworld planets, so you can score that objective this phase.
Cheers
I’ll do that then!
Would the mighty @MIGHTYSploosh and/or the piratey @GeeBizzle like to score any Objectives (excluding the new one, which isn’t available yet)?
Otherwise, I think we move on to the cleanup phase: I would like my 2 tokens to go in Tactics and Strategy, please. Thank you!
If the mulligan for leadership secondary is still available, ill exhaust my last planet and a trade good for another command token. Then that would have me spent 8 influence for sway the council victory point. I would like that command token in tactics.
The cleanup phase 2 tokens can be tactics and strategy.
You have to spend the Influence during the Status phase, not the Action phase. So you have to save your resources or influence until the end of the action phase and spend all of it at that time to fulfill an objective.
I will put 1 token in Tactics and 2 in Strategy.
Just to clarify, as COMaestro pointed out, you can’t do this. The resources/influence must be spent in the Status Phase on specifically the Objective you want to complete, not during the turn.
So if you want, you could spend less Influence for Tokens for Leadership, so that you can spend them now to complete that Objective.
Think of it this way: it’s not a memory game. You do not need to try to remember which planets were exhausted for resources, which for influence, and which for whatever other reason over the course of the round. It would be impossible to keep track of everyone’s spending throughout the round to ensure they actually did spend X amount of whatever during the Action phase.
Hence, anything you want to use to score an objective has to be held until the Status phase and spent all at once at that time. At the end of the Status phase, everything gets Readied and we go into the Agenda phase where we vote on laws and agendas, with all pf our respurces at our disposal. They will again Ready at the end of the phase to be avalable in the next round.
1 token in each of tactics, fleet and strategy please
I would love to. Just don’t think I can.
You’re right, sadly… if you had held onto some Trade Goods, you could’ve accomplished that. Or if you move one of your units into a Red Sector (“anomalies”), since you control 1 Legendary Planet already.
Gotta keep Objectives in mind over the course of your turn. You want to be scoring 1 each round if at all possible, since it is how you win the game. Secret Objectives are also critical here: they let you score a second Objective (since you can score 1 Public and 1 Secret Objective every Status Phase). The one VP you have, the Shard of the Throne, is transitory… it can be taken from you, whereas the Secret and Public Objectives are permanent (you can never lose them).
Anyway, /rant. At the start of the next turn, try to pick 1 Objective you’re going to complete, and keep it in mind for your entire turn (so if you want to score the 5 Trade Goods, maybe take the Trade Strategy, since that will give you all those Trade Goods immediately… and then don’t spend them before the Status Phase!).
You could also offer to exchange “Support for the Throne” with other players that you don’t plan to come into military conflict with (attacking a player if you have their Support for the Throne promissory note returns the card to them and loses you that VP). The Winnu might be a good choice, since by exchanging with them you’d both gain a VP, and unless you specifically want to kick them out of Mecatol Rex (a dangerous proposition, due to their Admiral) then you probably won’t cross swords with them. Besides, they’re probably going to be focused on reclaiming their Homeworld for the next turn or two… although sharks are gathering to unseat them from Rex, since it is a valuable jewel in any crown…
Thanks. Yeah I lost sight of this in the early game which is giving me problems now so going to play about in the sandbox instead to see what can be done.
I mean, you could always try for a military victory… I’ve never witnessed it myself in a 6-player game, but it’s not impossible!
Just almost impossible…
@COMaestro @Marx Thanks for the tips!
Okay, I think we can move on to the Agenda Phase? @Delwayne, let’s get politicking!
Sorry for the delay everyone. This weeks work schedule has been rather hectic! Here is the first Agenda item.
