Star Trek Ascendancy game 3

Hmm. You can pass through to Thonolan in exchange for you 1 Trade Deal for at least a few turns. That work for you?

(Assuming I can “give permission” to hostile ships to pass through my sectors… I think I can)

I would rather you not stop at the Temporal Anomaly. I don’t want to have to “race” anyone else for that Research and Command Refresh in the future.

You know what? Forget I said anything. You can travel through unimpeded like you initially planned. Don’t even worry about the trade deal.

I shouldn’t hold grudges. You did what you thought was best, and I’m getting my heckles up because IRL stuff is hard right now. That’s not on you.

The Federation may pass through Klingon space to Thonolan IV. Forget I said anything.

Well I Offer you the trade deal anyways, good faith and all that.

Afraid not. The moving party have to hold one of the other’s trade agreements. That’s a thing you could negotiate with adjacent ships/worlds/etc.

I’ll hold off the build phase until this bit is confirmed.

Can I give him my 3-Production trade deal, and then cancel it after he finishes his move?

You can pass deals either or both ways if you have adjacent entities, but you can only cancel on your turn.

(Please note that however temporary Ferengi get one production for each card exchanged.)

a) Do we have adjacent entities? (Eg does this mean we have to be in the same system?)
b) I’m quite happy to give the Klingons my remaining 1P trade deal without any strings attached. Come in Peace and all that.

Right now you don’t, because the ship in warp isn’t really anywhere. You could de-warp it right here at Son’A, negotiate, then spend lots more commands getting it to Thonolan. Can’t see an easier way of getting that adjacency.

So It Shall Be

[/stentorian tone]

In which case, Build Phase as ordered please.

Movement Phase
C1: Dewarp ship in Son’A Prime and negotiate- offer the Klingons my 1P Trade Deal
C2-4: Negotiations having been successfully concluded, ship re-warps, add a warp token, go to Thonolan IV for discussions with Romulans
C5-7: Ship at Regulus V goes to warp, adds a warp thing, and comes out of warp at Dakala.

@RogerBW asked for a die roll:
Build done.

  • C1 dewarp. Then Klingon 3P deal exchanged for Fed 1P deal, 2P to Ferengi.
  • C2 ship enters warp, C3 add warp token, C4 dewarp at Thonolan IV.
  • C5 ship enters warp, C6 add warp token, C7 dewarp at Dakala.

Card 6: Borg (NPC)

  • Build phase - no Transwarp Hub, no Borg Worlds.
  • Command Phase, activate cube 1.

Step 1: engage eligible ships in space battle.

Romulan fleet 1 of 3 ships, weapons 4+, shields 0.
Borg cube with 9 dice, weapons 5+, shields 0 (for now).

This is not happening on the Romulan turn, so the First Strike bonus from Romulan Cloaking Device doesn’t apply.

Round 1

Romulan: pool 3d6: 2× 1, 2 for 4+
Borg: pool 9d6: 1, 2, 2× 3, 3× 4, 2× 5 for 5+

Two Romulan ships are lost; fleet disperses. No damage done to the cube. @Assussanni, does the Romulan survivor wish to retreat?

(Correction, you got First Strike anyway, but it wouldn’t have made a difference.)

Don’t I get First Strike anyway because of the Borg’s Slow and Methodical rule (9.8.1): “Players’ Ships and Structures have First Strike against Borg Cubes, in the first Combat Round, in Space Battles and when defending against Borg Planetary Invasion. This is true regardless of who initiates the attack.”

Not that it would make any difference in this case! Edit: I see you spotted this too.

The lone survivor will retreat.

Ship retreats 2 on impulse.

Cube step 2: *Move: Collective 1" move towards ship blocking target
Cube step 3: begin assimilation of an eligible planetary system. Not in a system, so I don’t begin assimilation.

End of Borg turn.

Card 8: Romulan (@Assussanni)

It looks like I didn’t receive the resources from my unexhausted trade agreements. Is this correct?

I think I should have 8p and 5c (which I wish I’d noticed during the bidding phase!).

Yeah, looks as if I didn’t credit you 3P 1C. Sorry!

No worries! My fault for not spotting it. Besides I probably would have unwisely spent 5p bidding to go first, which I think would actually put me in a worse position than I am now.

Romulan Build Phase

Build production node on Son’a Prime (-2p).
Build 4 ships at Romulus and form them into Mining Fleet #3 (-4p).

End of build phase: 0p, 1r, 0c remaining.

End turn with 2p, 1r, 0c.
