Uh, why? This sounds like a terrible idea.
The depth of the Kallax is a major plus point for me.

I often “lay” the boxes down length-wise to take advantage of the depth. Never have a cube with “2 layers” so to speak
Because standard boxes are about 12 inches and the kallax is 15 or so inches, so you’ve got empty air to fill. And with the lost space from the “just wrong” square size I have extra games to store.
Yeah, I got that. Still seems like a terrible idea, my smaller boxes are simply not pushed all the way to the wall, but I suppose if you literally have nowhere else they could go, you don’t have much choice.
As another early birthday gift we carried a left-over (from the move 2 years ago) billy shelf to the game room and put the “overflow” that had been accumulating all over the house in here. The top 3 shelfs are a big part of my sell-pile. I must admit that even a billy seems to be more accessible storage than my nice built-in bookshelves with the glass doors. They are fancy and I can’t take them out but the glass doors and shelf sizes are impractical. I should be able to store way more games on a wall that size than those shelves permit (yes I am aware that’s “jammern auf hohem Niveau”):
I recently reorganized my small games, so my shelves don’t end up like Tom’'s full of trickle down small games:
This was the earliest shelfie I could find!! I’m not even sure when I took this. This was when I moved to a new place, I was poor AF (by London standards), and I haven’t got the shelves yet so they are on the floor. And standard LLV manoeuvre, didn’t even thought of taking a shelfie when the shelves did show up.
This photo is a bit like Framed - Titleshot Challenge where I discover that I can, unexpectedly, identify a lot of basically-unreadable titles :).
How many of these games are still in your collection?
Huh, I just clicked on that on got today’s on the first guess. I guess I’ve peaked.
(OK the autocomplete feature basically gave it to me, but still)
Same game
Same game but different edition
Considering if I want to have the new Lords of Vegas. Which game to kick out if I do?
A full shelfie would take a some work but due to recent acquisitions I had to expand small game storage and ban Arcs, Flick of Faith and Clank! Legacy 1 to the overflow.
I have also hidden a box with some traditional card games somewhere else. Those don’t get played.
A few games are still hiding in the back…
What are the white boxes with other things in them that take up more than half of the top shelf?
Top one looks like decks of playing cards. Bottom appears to mostly be Button Shy games.
Storage boxes I backed on KS and they are filled with our collection of pretty decks of standard cards, my collection of wallet games and a few miscellaneous items. the bottom shelf also has two of those they are black though and so less visible
The box on top of Regicide is A Gentle Rain.
