Rebuilding your collection for $500/£500/€500

I’m starting to come to the conclusion that this should be my basis for deciding which games to keep. If I lost it in a fire, would I buy it again? If not, then why keep it?

This concept is troubling me, as I realise only about a third of my current collection would be rebought in such a scenario. Might end up having a serious clearout in the new year when time allows.
