Went to a big art museum in KC tonight and I found Gwen’s spiritual if not actual distant ancestor in a painting.
Oh good! You rescued the dog!
The trousers make me wonder how long the cat has been there. Have you checked for a pulse?
I can confirm that both the cat and the owner of the legs are still alive
It’s been a rough late morning and early afternoon but in the end, everything is fine.
Gwen didn’t get out of bed this morning. When I realized and went to check on her, she wouldn’t get up and when I picked her up and put her on the floor, she couldn’t walk correctly. It looked like her left side wasn’t working and she was holding both those legs completely stiff and leaning to her right side. I freaked out about a possible stroke. Joe freaked out about maybe she ate something she shouldn’t have and was poisoned.
I rushed her to the vet, they examined her and did xrays and said they think she fell or something and is just bruised on that side with a probable front paw sprain. Pain meds, NSAIDs, and rest and hopefully she will be fully back to normal soon. She is already using the back leg a little, but still completely unwilling to put weight on the front.
She’s walking! She still is favoring her front left paw, but she is standing and walking around in a way she hasn’t since Tuesday morning!
I had a reason to make a picture of Marlowe as his namesake, and I can’t think of a funnier title for a cat to be reading :).
That pillow has a weird shape.
I’ll look into it.
Today we had to say goodbye to our last cat. Koko has been with us for 9 short years… ealry 2025 she had some major health issues that the vet said would give her another 2-3 months.
She held on as long as she could, giving me and my partner as much time to say goodbye as she could. She was super sweet, inquisitive, and gentle. She is already missed, and she’s been gone for less than an hour and the house feels unbelievably empty.
It has been 4 years of sick cats (both of Koko’s older sisters had serious health issues… kidney failure, cancer, and now fluid in the lungs), so we are taking a break before adopting again. Going to travel a little, stay out late or leave first thing in the morning without worrying about meds and feeding schedules… just kinda readjust to life for a while.
Please snuggle your pets and/or loved ones for us.
[raises glass] Absent cats!
You know, one of my long-held aims is to get a deck of personalised playing cards made for my partner with each cat having a picture of a different cat that has shared one of our lives. Given that number is well over 60 between us (including the many friendly outdoor “feral” cats) I might have to wait until it is nearer 80 and get a full tarot deck made. Each one is and was a treasure.
