“I meant,” said Ipslore bitterly, “what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?”
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

This may be the most joyous photo I’ve ever taken of my cat.

We often take Tobi for a walk round Roath Park Lake. There’s a coffee van there that do cakes for dogs.

When we get there now he runs up to it and sits like this…

We buy a lot of coffee now

My niece has two Romanian rescue dogs (no idea why she needed to get them from Romania, but there we are), both of which were in dire straits*. This is Oscar, literally saved from the killing pen, who has enjoyed a good life with her since his rescue. Nobody knows quite what he suffered, but he was believed to have been severely kicked, beaten and stamped on, resulting in a lot of health problems and trouble with his back legs. Despite that, he’s always done his best to keep up with his “sister” and is a wonderfully even-tempered, amiable fella, very fond of sitting on a lap and chilling out.

Time and injuries have caught up with him, sadly. The only way he can enjoy getting out for longer walks now is in his pushchair. He suffers from fits and blackouts, and his enlarged heart is affecting his breathing. Despite that, medication is keeping him comfortable and able to function without pain, but he doesn’t have long left.

A lovely dog. I can’t tell you how much joy he has brought to my niece over the years.

*Don’t. Just don’t.

Getting rescue dogs from Romania seems to be a thing. My husband’s children have a Romanian rescue of indeterminate breed and origin - her name is Belle and she’s very friendly

It looks like your niece is taking great care of Oscar. Hopefully he remains comfortable for as long as possible

Despite dressing him up in a Halloween jumper, yes, she really does everything she can for him
