Play coal and build coal In Burnley (£7).
Play cotton and build cotton in colne (£16+£3) using coal from Burnley and iron from the market.

You got £1 back for selling coal to the market.

@Chewy77 to play

Do I have to sell to the market? I would rather keep my coal for personal use right now like a little coal goblin.

Automatic once it’s linked I’m afraid

Use a Wigan card to build a coal mine there (£8) and use a Shipyard card to get a £30 loan.

I guess as Wigan is not connected yet to anything, the coal stays there? Oh, wait, the market has been replenished, never mind.

EDIT: it should be 4 coal there, is a level 3 mine.

Edit

Play Port to double rail (Burnley to Blackburn, Blackburn to Bolton). Coal from Burnley (flip tile), coal from market (£16 total)

Play Blackburn to Build Ironworks in Blackburn (£9, plus £1 coal from market! £10 total). 5 iron go on, all sell to market for £9. Flip tile

The obvious best move for me would be to build a cotton mill and sell all three to the distant market, but I can’t do that, which is frustrating.

So: discard Colne, sell to distant market from both mills.

Discard Burnley, build rail from Bolton to Wigan, using coal from Wigan, and from Preston to Blackburn, again using coal from Wigan, for £15.

Reference player board:

The restrictions for this round are:

  • You may not build canals (rail era)
  • You may not build tier 1 industries (rail era)

Reminders:

  • You must be connected to either a coal mine (belonging to any player) or the market to access coal. The connections do not need to be your link tiles.
  • Link tiles must connect to your existing network at one or both ends.
  • You may build multiple industries in the same location.
  • Railways require coal.
  • You may build one or two railways using a single action by paying one coal and £5, or two coal and £15, respectively.

Use a Fleetwood card to upgrade two obsolete cotton mills from my display (paying 3 pounds for the iron), and use a Stockport card to build a level 2 Cotton Mill, and use one Wigan coal and 14 quid more to build it.

Discard Lancaster to build rail from Bolton to Bury, flipping Wigan coal, and from Bury to Rochdale, paying £2 for coal, for £17.

Discard Wigan to take a £30 loan.

Play Ironworks to build ironworks in Manchester - £12 (coal from Warrington - flip tile). Looks like all 6 sell straight to market for £12, flip tile
Play Blackburn to build coal mine there - £7

I think this is a legal move. Await inevitable correction.

Use Liverpool to build a port there for 7 quid. Use Cotton Mill to flip my Stockport Mill through such port.

Ack, the end of cards and loans caught me by surprise.

Oh well, double loan for £60 I suppose. Discard Bury and Macclesfield.

Next turn, down to £92.

Double double rail: Blackburn to Wigan, Liverpool to Wigan, Liverpool to Southport, Rochdale to Yorkshire. Flips Blackburn coal, pay £1 from the market for a cost of £31. Discard Iron Works and Manchester.

(My note: down to £59)

Use Rochdale to build Iron Works there (paying 8 pounds between building and coal, correct me if I am wrong) and adding 4 iron to it. Discard a shipyard card to use 2 of those iron blocks to upgrade the locked shipyards on my play table.
