I will also use my card and place the token on the sharkskin leather.
I will gain 2 coin, advance my leather polisher, and pay one to gain a leather.
I will not spend 3 for the permanent side.
Everyone else decides what one family member to activate.

I’ll advance my lacquer decorator again. Do I get the decorator bonus or do I need a worker there
So I have three family member actions in total? I will use two of them to work the sword in A3, adding a steel and a wood. I will use the last action to take 2 gold.

I’m going to buy a monk and send it to the academy. I’ll advance my leather decorator twice, and then again using the card I have. then I will decorate one leather, one steel, and one wood.

your leather is already decorated. You’ll also be getting 6 victory points.

I didn’t notice the leather was decorated 
But on balance I still want to do it.

Actually, we’ll allow you to do it, only because it was my mistake to “assume” you wanted a free polish awhile back. I’ll have to remember to ask and confirm from players. Because played this yesterday IRL and a player chose not to polish because he had a plan to promote his polishers prior to polish so that he’d get more gold. In your case, gold is/was not an issue and so we can easily go back and make that unpolished, thus polishing that leather for 2 more gold (you were given the 1 coin previously).
I hope this makes sense to everyone else.
