“Oy!” “Wut?” Just chat (The Return of)

I’ve told my daughter she can be moderately thankful she was not named “Athena Endeavor”

Besides, there’s always Fly-fornication

And being called Shiv sounds well hard

Shiv Jai Singh does not drink martinis. I think that’s pure gas in the glass.

My friend also sent me this:

My pet peeve is people getting Indian names wrong. Like the girl in The Office. Kelly kapoor i think. Her looks are south and kapoor is a very north, very punjabi name

Almost sounds like some qualification to me

That’s really useful, thank you! I might change the first name… I actually named the character after the game, not the city, but that’s splitting hairs. I dunno, I kinda like it… but it would be nice to be authentic-ish.

Is “Jai Singh” the family name? Or is that middle - last name?

Well she didn’t know the game existed, she was very surprised about it.

Both the names go together usually. If you say only Singh you might mean a Sikh person. In case that matters to your friend
I’m just a little hesitant because idk if women take both names together. Like Mrs Jai Singh

It is your book and character, you can do whatever you want

can you elaborate? because I am not following?

I’m guessing, but taking a “Long Rest” in D&D is how you heal and refresh your abilities. Also a tavern / cafe is a good place for it.

Is anyone in touch with Handycon?

I want to find out whether they still have the policy under which I was refused entry some years ago, that people weren’t allowed to bring games trolleys. (They were desperately over-stuffing the space, and didn’t have room. Good thing nobody was in a wheelchair.) This policy was not on their web site, because officially everyone is on Facebook. It’s not on their web site now, but of course that doesn’t mean anything. They aren’t bothering to answer contact requests.

But I’m not going to pay for a ticket and drive for an hour to Milton Keynes without actually knowing whether they’re going to let me in.

I’ve asked via their Facebook page, will edit here if I get a response

Help a yankee out - what is a games trolley? I’m imagining something….

Aka Roger’s Rolling Games Library, a camping trolley full of games. Here it is at Tabletop Scotland (also shifting some stock for a friend who had a stand there):

in German: Bollerwagen

You can usually replace “trolley” with “cart” to get the US equivalent, as with shopping trolley.

But not always.

And in it, a cornucopia of games. I can attest through lived experience

The bollerwagen inspires me with the thought of a baller wagon, and I don’t know what that is but I’m not sure I’m cool enough to ride it.

The games trolley should be a large vehicle where everyone has to pedal while they play games to make it move. Also, beer.

Looks to me as though

has at least some gaming surface.

Toured central Berlin on one of those a decade ago. Surprisingly hard work.

I just heard a radio advert encouraging me to take up fencing. I feel like I should have something pointed to say about that, but it’s caught me with my guard down.
