As part of our Cyber Security training we’ve had mock phishing emails appearing in our inboxes without warning.

The email asked me to click a link to take a mandatory 10 minute training course by close of play tomorrow ahead of the Cyber Security audit.

Regardless of the due date, with these training courses they’re lucky if I complete them within a month of asking let alone a day or week. I wonder how many people will report it (as we’re meant to) versus just filing it away for a later date :joy:

Perhaps they should RTFM?

I mean, as long as everyone is having fun, how bad can it be?

Maybe they are not having fun?
Or maybe this “top” official is being excluded from all the fun…?

A friend sent a group message this afternoon, asking what we thought of his Halloween costume. I knew, but had totally forgotten, that he was scheduled to have a craniectomy this morning, where they have removed about 1/2 his skull from his left side.

“Close of play” is a metaphor I’ve given up using at work. Explaining it to Americans just takes too long.

Went to the Royal Albert Hall to see Clannad’s last ever concert, which was them playing the “Legend” album Robin of Sherwood soundtrack because it’s the 40th anniversary. It was introduced by Michael Praed and Jason Connery and loads of the cast were there. Clannad are releasing an extended double-album of the RoS soundtrack with lots of previously unseen material.

Without being too specific, I’ll just mention it is the quadrennial night in which I spend most of my time contemplating moving to another country.

Bad news, as well- according to the numbers, a single group [1] is dominating every elected office and position

So had to go in for an operation today, staying in overnight but got 2 weeks stuck in the house. Planning on playing a couple of solo Lacerdas. I’ve got Kanban EV and on Mars to try.

Any advice on if the default on Mars or invasion modules are better for a first game?

I’d go for the default first. There is enough there to keep you busy  But I’ve only played a couple of times and that was … at this point … years ago? Oops…

Hope you’ll recover quickly and the time passes even more quickly.

I draw to your attention Brutal Kingdom, which I would probably have bought if it had had basically any other art (including none at all).

We have a game of Voidfall planned for tomorrow, and I’m already deeply suspicious of this description from BGG:

Voidfall is a space 4X game that brings the genre to Euro enthusiasts’ tables

Sounds like 4X games with the fun sanded off to me

It’s resource management in space.
Pretty good. Caveat: i only played solo so far and setup was so meh because of the terrible insert, it didn’t get back to the table in a good while. hopefully someone else is doing the setup for you.

Someone is bringing their copy to our house to play… Perhaps I’ll cook while they do the setup!

Yeah, didn’t like it.

But then my lack of love for heavy euros I’d well documented here. YMMV

I’m not averse to a heavy Euro, but if I’m playing a 4X game then that’s not really what I’m after, I guess :person_shrugging:

It’s a much better heavy Euro than Darwin’s Journey, if that counts for anything after my post in Recent Games
