NYT started up an series covering obituaries of notable women and this one popped up the other day with a name I recognized. Karen Wynn Fonstad was a cartographer who I knew for her Atlas of the Dragonlance World, which had wonderfully detailed maps of Krynn. The Dragonlance series of novels was my first real dive into fantasy. I had no idea she had done the same for Middle-Earth and some other fantasy series. I also had no idea she passed away back in 2005! Found this to be an interesting read and just learning more about someone who made a significant contribution to something I love.
