Can I mention, just in passing, that I hate how hard it is to be a creative in 2026?
NPI does solid, good work. Some of their videos I would argue are better than some SUSD videos (not all of them, but definitely some of them). Their long-form essays are often great.
The fact that the two of them can barely make minimum wage (and I’m pretty sure that if you factor in the hours they put into the work, significantly less than minimum wage)…
I hope the little break helps. I hope that more people are able to step up and support creatives doing positive things for society, putting real work into their work. I wish I could support NPI myself… maybe I’ll sign up for $1, just as a fingers-crossed-I-hope-this-helps pledge because money is tight but I really need to know that artists can make a living these days.
Anyway. A little depressing, but I hope it helps Elaine and Efka out. They do good stuff.

They’re the only reviewers I know of who don’t accept review copies. I may often not agree with their tastes, but that alone is important to me.
(Because it’s an ongoing relationship, review negatively and you go down the queue for the next game that publisher does, and even if there’s no formal influence you know you can’t afford to keep doing the thing without getting the review copies…)
