Yep - I had the winch for a while, but was pondering when the best time to use it was, as Mark knows. I eventually fell on doing it earlier to avoid seances.
I did get a ghost card there which if I had been affected would have made me leave, so I chose to act on it in case it could be verified!
Just chiming in to say thank you to @MarkSP for giving us the chance to playtest this. And thanks everyone for making it so fun. I really enjoyed the game and the dramatic conclusion!
@Scribbs and @DJCT, was it stressful at all being in the possessed team? Any nail-biting moments for you? Well played by the way!
Yes it was stressful. @Scribbs and I had minimal chance to chat, you’ll see that if you look back we were only together once when everyone else had left a room, and we did not want to dwindle. So difficult to coordinate!
And of course I did not know when to use the winch, but decided to get it done.
You’ll also note there was no attacking of anyone - esp given I had the gun, as I couldn’t work out how that would do anything but make it obvious.
I think if the last vote hadn’t panned out, then the knives would have come out (literally). Ross’ shield was trapped, and knowing DJCT had a gun, I think we would have removed any humans from the voting procedures.
It was pretty stressful, as I was struggling to find ways to influence much. I found a key on the first turn, but the use of the explosives meant I didn’t slow much down. The one brief conversation with DJCT let me know about the poisoned food at the chapel, which was useful for me to act as cover.
Did it play as you expected? I didn’t have a clue who was possessed; was that part of the design so players would start to look for things in each other?
My brain gets confused between amulets and talismans.
Very early on when talking about possessed people I made a few references to people with mental health conditions. This was obviously wrong, and another player did take me aside and flag this up. (The posts were edited.) I’m not sure if there could be a better phrase than possessed? I’d like to hear others thoughts.
I really liked the puzzle. It’s nice and chunky, the two card idea is a really nice touch.
The only thing I wasn’t sure of was in endgame.
As the last person who returned to the room, I had to wait for @MarkSP to put me in the room. When he did I wasn’t online, and so although I was present, I had no chance to react to anything. When I had logged in @Captbnut had already proposed the vote and I was stuck, unable to stab anyone. Maybe as a minor tweak people only count as at the lifeboats when they post something?
I really liked it. In my head it’s set on a ship in the interwar years, although I would still like the ship to have a name.(Any good mexican names for cruise ships, tie in your games together?)
Overall, Loved it. Even if I was murdered in the lifeboat.
This was a rules misunderstanding on my part. I thought there would be attacking after the proposal so I thought it would be a way to draw some people out.
