Last game you DIDN'T buy?

Ditto - looks at Pax Pamir and John Company - friends only seem to have brain space for simple and as we have established online versions of complicated games and me don’t click

I’ve been looking at Toy Battle today, but I think I’ve talked myself out of it in favour of games I already have – Caesar: Seize Rome in 20 Minutes, and maybe also The Battle for Hill 218. I’m fairly sure I’d enjoy Toy Battle, but I don’t think I need it.

Thats a good view of things. Mori did some good 2 players like Caesar.

Ive been wondering myself, but I have Battle Line, Hive, Compile, etc. I dont play 2 player much. Do I need Toy Battle? Even though I am having a good time with it with @Acacia and other ppl on BGA

Well my philosophy is, if you gotta ask, the answer’s no!

(This hasn’t always been my philosophy, but it is now, and it works well for me)

Me too, if I’m questioning a purchase I usually think I can’t want it that much

“This game is down from its original 80 to 20 quid. And I’m still wondering whether I want it. Hmm.”

That’s my other trigger, do I want this game if it’s absurdly cheap? If I’m still wavering, then no

Last game I didn’t buy was Corvids.
It came into stock on Chaos Cards but there were only 3. While I was browsing to hit the free shipping threshold it went out of stock completely. Very upsetting, and meant I missed out on Slambo which I’d also added to the cart.
Hoping it will be back in stock somewhere soon, but I don’t think DVC have a UK distributor yet.

I’d say yes. I think this one’s truly a classic with some long life. Much more accessible than Compile, more approachable than Battle Line (which is great but always stressful).

It’s more of a looking at my shelf and deciding what I don’t need anymore.

That said, if you don’t play 2p much then yeah. Maybe doesn’t matter how good it is.

Allplay have a new version of High Society out, although I don’t see how you’re ever going to beat the art and theme of the Osprey version.

Looks like they’re going for New York glamour this time but I can’t work out which decade it’s meant to be in - there’s a telephone that’s 1930s at earliest, but a newspaper that’s way after that and I’ve no idea about the clothing.

There are apparently 3 new cards in this edition which all work well. I’m fine without, but anyone going to be buying it?

Nah, the French/Osprey version is far nicer.

There are several editions of High Society that I like the look of (and some others that I think look really terrible by comparison). I think the new Allplay edition artwork looks really nice. I’m very happy with Osprey edition, but the new one looks like it would be a perfectly good buy if you don’t have a copy of the game already.

Yeah I quite like it. I count 3 different editions where I really like the art. Hopefully there are a variety of copies around so folks can pic their preferred version.

(The Osprey version has been around for 8 years now, so fair enough).

I love Concordia. I have been worried because an upcoming special edition with plastic miniatures and AI art mentioned it was going to have new gameplay elements in it. I do not want a giant, expensive version of the game I already own and love but I do want all the Concordia gameplay. A recent update about a new expansion coming in the special edition box made clear the expansion will also be available in normal Concordia expansion later this year so I am officially and happily not buying the special edition.

A couple of days ago I got an email from GMT to tell me that my payment for my preorder of The British Way had failed (probably because the card I used for the preorder has since expired). I’d still like to have the game, but I took the opportunity to not pay the $45 shipping :scream: and canceled my order

Yep shipping from GMT is impossible now to the UK - just too much. Have to hope one turns up in a store now. But to be fair there is normally a reasonable stock for a few months after a game releases

At Wellycon the thing I came closest to buying was Curious Cargo. The other day I didn’t buy LOTR: The Confrontation, and (yet again) Innovation. I think I’d enjoy all of them, but I don’t think I’d get to play any of these the way they need to be played.

I also didn’t buy Railroad Tiles again, because I’m still not convinced I don’t already have better games filling that niche. I do love the look of it though, and am willing to change my mind, but it needs to be a try-before-buy (or else significantly cheaper).

If it helps, it often feels that I’m the only gamer I know who doesn’t love it.

I haven’t had a chance to try Railroad Tiles. I have so many tile laying games already and some very satisfying ones with hex tiles… why would I need a “big box”(1) one that doesn’t even
use hexes?

Small Fjords ftw

(1) I mean the base box is pretty small but the reviews suggested it is not complete enough and then it quickly becomes a big box or a chaos of small boxes like with the dice expansions for Railroad Ink
