Last game you bought?

I’ve played Codenames with Dixit before now, and I found it’s not as good as you might think. The wealth of things you can cue off of makes it a very different game; I much prefer the original (with the caveat that I don’t like pictures compared to words in the first place - I only own it as an option for playing with people who aren’t fluent in English). For example, you might fairly trivially be able to clue 4 specific cards with a specific colour. Sure, that colour will be on more than four cards, but if the 4 cards have more of that colour, it’s pretty easy. And so on and so on. You don’t have to clue concepts or associations, you can often just clue concrete boring things.

We caved and finally bought Hitster now that there is a rock edition–the kids claimed it was good while they were playing my copy of That’s not a hat (green edition). Also visited the local comic and mangastore, ordered frames for my artist series prints and ordered Shackleton Base from FLGS🔥

I have ordered Hot Streak from Toronto to ship to my house…

This is all your fault. You know who you are.

Best choice you’ve made this year.

I have also gone for a preorder of Hot Streak after all the positive chatter on here, alongside a couple of Splotter games which were on sale.

I have played a couple of times. It was interesting, but I quickly realized that I had no idea how to gain control at the appropriate moment. I might have gotten out of last place once?

I’d definitely play it again, though.

SUSD have talked about it on a podcast… apparently it is similar to Mahjong or Dominos in that it is very laid back and chill, not super strategic, but kinda “nice” in a pleasant way?

As memory serves.

Picked up LotR: Fate of the Fellowship today. After puttering around for a while, was finally able to break into it. Assembled the ridiculous, but very pretty dice tower, looked through the character cards and the objectives, then realized something was wrong.

Baggie of red troops, baggies of brown troops, baggie of gray troops, baggie of green troops…where the hell are the blue ones? That’s right, no blue armies, because screw Gondor! We don’t frickin’ need 'em!

Okay, yes we do. As part of Asmodee, Z-Man’s part replacement policy is, take it back to the retailer. So that’s what I get to do tomorrow. I called the store and it sounds like it shouldn’t be a problem to just open up another copy and take the armies from that one. Here’s hoping they aren’t all missing the blues.

And I guess I can’t play with no blues.
Time on my hands, should be time playing you.
Cheering at good rolls, groaning at bad ones.
Rumbling like thunder in the dice tower!
But I guess I can’t play with no blues.

It’s my birthday

@Acacia showed me Lorenzo on BGA, really looking forward to getting battered by Kate IRL. Rumble Nation should be some light fun, as should Gravwell (thank you @Marx for bigging it up). Roll for the Galaxy is something I’ve always wanted to try.

And I got a glugging jug!

That’s a good haul there.

Gravwell. Is this going to become a forum thing?

You all inflicted Hot Streak on me, I inflict Gravwell on all of you.

Law of Equivalent Exchange, and all that.

Bought Rebel Princess because it’s very cheap on Amazon at the moment, and I love Hearts the most.

Also bought Spots as my partner will play it, because good dogs.

Avoid my blunder and remember that every time you score a dog card, you draw a new one. So the number of dogs in your pack can increase (via the howl action), but never decrease.

Sometimes fate throws you a bone. This game had been titillating me for a while, but at $85, I was hesitant. Saw it at my FLGS, brand-new, in French, for $45.

Kinda hard to pass up a near 50% discount!

Just want to mention that the FLGS I used to work at has sold 971 copies of Flip 7 since May 31st.

For a town of 500K people with 7 FLGS… now, granted, J&Js is one of the biggest Canadian Game Stores. So they draw more than most other stores.

But still. Crazy for a pretty unremarkable little card game.
