Got tempted on Lords of Vegas, but skipped. Was also tempted on Fate of the Fellowship but it is often being played that I don’t see the point of buying it for now. But I’d love to “git gud” at it with friends and beat it at Legendary difficulty. World of Warcraft, Reign of Cthulhu, and Iberia remains undefeated.
Anyway, I finally got Fast Sloths from a trade with a club member. Keen to play it. Will need to print the rules
R&F is rather straightforward. If youre teaching, focus on the cards, the iconography is rife! Also pay attention to the terrain type on the cards. I missed that a few times. E.g. you cannot settle a city on a moutain using a Nomad but you can with a Mountaineer
Found the 2017 KS version of Beasts of Balance at a by-the-pound Goodwill the other day, so picked that up. Rules are missing but I am betting I can find them online.
Ordered Season 2 of Cthulhu: Death May Die because it seemed to be a good deal on Amazon, despite only having played the game once so far. It was fun and I think having more investigators to choose from will be a real benefit in the long run.
Certainly a lot of shops I talked to at Expo had expected it to be only a mild success, brought only a few copies, and were surprised when it sold out quickly. I think it’s very easy to get people enthused with a demo or a single play.
Also bought Courtisans, because it was in my local Waterstones, and a playthrough on YouTube looked like the kind of thing my casual pub group would enjoy.
I didn’t buy it, but for my birthday my friends bought me Fit to Print, which looks cute and puzzly. Very similar to Galaxy Trucker in that you have a time limit to gather and assemble tiles into a particular format over the course of three rounds, but in this instance you are making the front page of a newspaper and you just score what you did, not navigate through a series of hazards after the building phase.
I’m happy to report that Brian Boru has arrived, so they obviously figured out that mishap in a timely manner.
https://www.ospreypublishing.com/uk/osprey-games/board-card-games/ has a few very good prices at the moment in their July sale. Not that you should ever buy things just because they’re cheap, but if any of the deals were already on your list, now might be a good time.
