John Company PBF

No, I understand that. But on three dice there were no successes, though I did use the plural “spots” when I know only one spot would have opened.

I would very much like to fit out the Eliza (does nepotism apply?).

I am however wondering if @RossM will be willing to vote with me during the prime minister phase for fitting out the diligence?

(I don’t know if that was a serious question, but nepotism rules only apply to hiring)

Well which way were you planning on voting?

There’s no way of knowing yet what the vote will be on. But GeeBizzle gets to draw up to 3 cards, stopping at any time or if a crisis is drawn. GeeBizzle will want to vote for whatever is selected in order to keep control of the Prime Minister and gain 1 “passed vote” power for endgame scoring. Otherwise whoever spent the most votes on making the bill fail will gain control of the Prime Minister for next time.

Ok. I shall agree to vote with you in favour of the bill proposed.

(Although I believe as this is a future action this agreement is non binding?)

That is correct. A binding agreement could be made by the exchange of a promise card John Company PBF - #20 by Benkyo “Vote with my enterprises” but that’s a different ask and was not requested.

Then I whole heartedly agree

Thinking of sending you south to help trade in Madras (based on current open trade routes) we could fill that juicy £5 order. Any thoughts?

Ok so I’ll build the Eliza deploying it to the east and build the dilligence sending it to the south under the gentleman’s agreement that Ross will support this government. I’ll leave £2 for future actions leaving options for when further routes open.

That ends my offices actions I believe.

OK, not entirely sure if I should do this in my moderation role, but I just want to check that you are aware of and choosing to ignore the Chairman’s outlined plan? (I will not be doing this in future, just as we warm up to the game)

Not a problem and appreciate the check in. My error I’ll send the dilligence west. Forgetting that we can reach to Mysore from there.

(I do want to be clear that it would be totally normal to ignore a Chairman’s proposal and/or make demands to follow through with promises made when discussing company plans, etc.)

Over to @RossM for Military Affairs.

Well I’m going to transfer the two unallocated regiments to Madras

Unless someone can convince me there’s a better move for the good of the company

Just to be clear, you mean the regiments in the Army of Bengal and the Army of Bombay, right? Not “unallocated regiments”, which aren’t a thing.

(I hope it wasn’t misleading having the stack of regiments on the military affairs space - due to this concern I have just moved them off-board for improved clarity)

Oh. That’s exactly what I thought they were.

Then I’m up for suggestions

Sorry for the confusion. Fwiw, I thought your post made perfect sense as-is if referring to the transfer between armies.

To recap, the 2 pieces you can transfer are officers and regiments already in armies. Then assign officers-in-training, of which there are none (no-one took that family action), then appoint commanders, which also won’t happen because no positions are vacant and no commanders are currently outnumbered by officers from other families.

Officers and regiments provide 1 die each when deployed, minus the strength of the defending power. Officers have a 1 in 6 chance of dying in deployment, regiments do not. Loot is the one-off bonus from the region + 4 pounds per tower split evenly (favouring commanders and officers) between the commander and every piece deployed. Successful deployment also nets 1 power as a trophy for the commander. And removes unrest, of which there is none.

Deployed pieces are exhausted, meaning they cannot defend in the India phase if things go wrong. Ready pieces provide 1 strength each in defence, which is a simple check without dice-rolling - if defence is equal to or greater than the event + unrest, the region is protected, which iirc only matters if the region is company controlled. A region that is not company controlled basically has no use for armies - they just drain funds during upkeep.

Oh, there’s one exception - if you get the nasty Foreign Invasion India event, that’s a die roll in every port region vs. your defence, and it’s bad for the company to lose.

To reiterate. The plan is to drag both regiments from Bombay and bengal in order to gain control of madras
