General Asynch Recruiting Thread

I’m in! RogerBW there too. Also Roger's Rules has shorter books.

Yup I’m down for Lemminge

I’m Acacia there as well. I can invite inky but not you, Roger. Don’t know why that would be. Can you set it up instead?

I’m in if there’s an open spot

OK there should be an invitation to the three of you.

One spot left, it goes up to 5.

I just received a second invitation - are we swapping over to that game? I’m happy to do either, don’t want two games running though

Would anyone like to play some Innovation? I’ve only just started playing so I am quite bad but don’t mind being crushed in order to learn

Always down for innovation so I took the first slot. Going to sleep soon though, hopefully (hayfever is keeping me up).

Molly House is in beta on BGA:

I’ll refuse. I would need to play that first on the table with someone else teaching it

I’m playing my first game of Molly House through that, very very slowly. I’d be down for another game if it ever finishes. The async interface they’ve done mimics the physical game, so it’s pretty bad for showing you information you should know but isn’t currently visible.

I did wonder whether async would make the festivities difficult

Hmm… So there’s a new site:

It appears to be heavily integrated with Discord, but available via browser as well.

No need for an account, it appears to only accept google or discord logins. Also no public matchmaking - you either invite friends or post the table link on discord to fill up your table.

It’s selling point is cheap setup and publisher control, likely counter-Asmodee since they own BGA.

It’s got several recent Bitewings, including:

  • Moytura (1v1 area majority with a neutral faction you are both trying to manage)
  • Seagrass (billed as Babylonia 2.0, jury is out on which is better)
  • Arribada (modernized, competitive Rummikub about sea turtles laying eggs?)

First two are by the Undaunted / War Chest / Mandala guys.

If anyone wants to take those three for a spin, let me know.

Given the tile laying request, I’d play seagrass

First time. I don’t know if the table just grows as people join or if it’s hardcoded to 2p.

Rules were a quick read yesterday for me. A bit of Mandala going on here:

  • Each turn you either place several sea creature tiles (and don’t draw), OR
  • Place a reef tile and draw 3

Sea Creatures, play as many as you want of a single type of creature, in a single group.
a) Immediately score points based on the total number of matching sea creatures in the final group (may include tiles from a previous turn)
b) When any reef is completely surrounded, whoever has the most sea creatures around it (of any kind) scores points based on the size of the reef

Adding to the reef doesn’t do anything immediately but is necessary for maintaining handsize. You’re just increasing the available points on the board, hopefully in a way that those points end up in your own pocket…

That’s the paragraph version. Enough to be dangerous.

Roads & Boats is finally online and actually playable async with a nice UI. Anyone interested?

(Alternatively, solo puzzling just became a whole lot easier, if that’s your thing)

I am keen to try

Ping @pillbox. He’s likely interested in running three tables at once.

I’m already playing 3 simultaneous solo IRL games (a legal requirement when you own 2.5 copies of the game in all jurisdictions, outside of Costa Rica and Myanmar at least). As a result, I’m only interested in a single virtual table, at least for the moment.

Does that mean you are up for a game?

3 players would be enough to get started. I could randomly pick a 3-player map? (in-game map-building isn’t supported yet)
