Anyone interested in Rajas of the Ganges on Yucata?
I am! I’ve played it on there once and had a great time.
Sounds like not much interest for a midweight generic Euro. @Inkybloc, do you know how it plays at 2? Want to still take a run at it?
I will pass - might play with some randos eventually if you want me to let you know about that game so you can join (and secretly help me win)
Just closing the loop, GG on the automobiles. I think I grumbled in the game comments, I’m used to having more “slow and steady” results. It was an odd game of stationary turns then explosive rounds, but in the balance it worked out.
I’m up for another!
I quite enjoyed Automobiles. Life’s a bit too crazy at the moment for another game, I think. But I definitely look forward to tracking down a copy.
Shall we move over to BGA to include @mistercrayon too?
That would be great!
OK, who else is up for BGA automobiles - and let me know your name there if it isn’t your name here.
I am up for another.
Can I work it out without spending a lot of time learning the rules? If so, I’m in
Edit - I’m assured it’s fairly klundable so count me in please
It’s basically Dominion/Quarriors. You have a bag of cubes rather than a deck of cards (Dominion). Each cube does something, specified by a card chosen for that game (Quarriors).
Brown Cubes = wear - these are the garbage that “slow down” your bag
Greyscale cubes = basic movement. Match a cube to a space on the track and move forward
Red/Blue/Green = special movement. Details are specific to whatever card is chosen for the game that attach an ability to that color
Purple/Yellow = maintenance. Usually tied to drawing extra cubes or eliminating wear.
Any cubes you don’t spend to move/maintain have a $$ attached to them, which you can then use to buy more cubes.
There’s a few more details in the manual (Active vs Used vs Discard piles, gaining wear and slipstreaming) but that is the meat of it.
I wouldn’t mind giving it a spin.
OK, invitations sent for Automobiles/BGA.
Definitely suffers from the board being hard to parse quickly, and having to take notes to remember what you were trying to achieve. And from randomness of course. But it definitely has its moments. Thanks both!
Really enjoyed it, too. More than I remembered. For whatever reason, I thought there were 6 rounds (which would have been way too many).
I’m now able to sell my copy; I enjoyed and would play again but it’s not needed for the pantheon.
Does anyone fancy something meaty on BoardgameArena?
My inkling is for Beyond the Sun but happy for any other suggestions.
Ooo. I’ve been jonesing to learn Nippon, Ultimate Railroads, or Teotihuacan. However, I’m going largely off the grid in a few days so I’m a terrible candidate to start any complex games.
If those sound good to anyone else, maybe stick a peg in it for the back half of May?
I’m always up for BTS
I’d be up for teotihuacan at some point!
