I saw @mr.ister dropped out. They said they had a busy week.
I assumed the new player was another one of your ringers who was going to destroy us!

I just killed the table. I think LandoD just entered a crisis at work as well.
El Grande will always be there for us when we’re ready
I declined the invitation without thinking much about it. Apologies!
@Captbnut didn’t mean to say no the RftG invite… Can you send me a new one please?
I’m up for more RftG too.
GG, @lalunaverde, @Benkyo, @Snobbydolphin.
Four games in so I have no excuse, but I’m ALWAYS surprised by how fast the bag empties at 4p. Just more draws, for one, but also more conflicts with more leaders on the board. Every time, I’m pivoting to my weakest color just as the game ends.
Mr Verde, incredible drop of those five red tiles. I know for you it wasn’t a good exchange, but it was devastating for my endgame!
That games was nuts. Cheers, guys. I think I might suggest next time I play to play with open scores
I’ve been mulling on a sort of fuzzy measure that would imitate real life (for those who aren’t counting) to give a vague sense of how strong people are in each color. Factoring in salience bias and recency bias, so like if someone won a big green conflict “green” would stand out, and whatever someone did in the last five rounds would stand out a little more.
So it would be fuzzy, but give an indication of how strong each player “feels” in each color.
I think Thenmal (the deveopler) has been patient enough with my suggestions, though, and this one is much more complicated and not fully baked.
I’d rather play blind than with open scores, but what I really want is something between the two that helps you track but still leaves room for suprises.
I’ve noped out another GWT, so go ahead without me or an alternate fourth
You’ve seen my preference in chat, but for the record here:
Hidden score is the way T&E is intended to be played, and is the way I play it live.
But async, over weeks, I don’t check the logs carefully, or sometimes at all. I could keep track of score perfectly, taking notes, but that would be an onerous chore tacked on to something I’m doing for fun. Therefore, I don’t have a feel for who is winning, or who is strong in what colours. Without visible scores, I feel like I’m only half playing, maximising my own score but not really engaging with the game as a multiplayer experience. So I think scores should be visible to all in async, specifically.
Nice job folks on the Railways of the World.
I kept making basic errors like confusing St louis with Louisville and thought I could complete a line just by glomming onto another’s work.
I think the game would be much better in real life the rhythm of an asynchronous game doesn’t quite match how much you do I think in any particular go.
I think it was interesting how much more debt the winner got into. I tried to stay away. I guess if you make up the points that’s the key.
I enjoyed that and would play again, but agree it is hard to ‘get’ the game state and - for me at least - gain some knowledge about winning strategies. I went too hard to get my rail baron (largest engine) by at least one turn but that is hard to judge when not staring down people over the table!
I also enjoyed it but think a real time play would be a better experience. The round structure confused me a few times.
I just did my own thing. I played it like Age of Steam and didn’t go for some of the looser scoring.
I currently have only one game of Antiquity going, and have come into more free time. So, is anyone up for any of the usual suspects?
Innovation
Race for the Galaxy
Antiquity
Roads & Boats
Mage Knight
Napoleon’s Triumph
Twilight Struggle
Pax Pamir 2e
Through the Ages
Tash Kalar
Indonesia
Food Chain Magnate
… or anything else I have forgotten
I am particularly interested on Mage Knight because I haven’t played it, but that means I will be a slow player. On the other options: I’m up for any of those except Roads and Boats
I haven’t played Mage Knight in aaages, totally happy to teach. Vassal, module is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/15nhvkYD9tn4rRDU_kit8u5ZBArAZM4Od/view?usp=sharing
Unless you want to play base set only, in which case might as well use the module here:

Two-player is fine, a good way to learn faster. Can play competitive or coop.
I’ll always play a game of Race, not the Xeno expansion though
Race is one of those premium BGA games, so it’s the app for me, or someone else to set up the table.
I’ve got the app, but never be turned into the scary world of online playing.
Does it work async?
It does indeed, but I don’t have the expansions (and I think only the first arc has been implemented anyway).
My “friend code” is VSRVLE44
