Essen/SPIEL 2025 (Okt. 23-26)

As every year… SPIEL is happening.

It is weird for me that it is happening so early. At least it seems like it to me.

Not that I have been there since 2017.

Well, back to the more usual late-October date next year.

our friends will celebrate their 50st bday that Saturday.
I might do Thursday and Friday but it is unlikely I will. a lot of stress and then the potential to make all of my friends catch whatever I caught this year.

but I will scour the lists of new games just the same and follow the buzz and might just read the reports instead.

Will try to be there. I might go solo (depending on plans)

Sadly, it turns out, I am really not going this year. Too much stress to go only to attend Friday.

Nevertheless I made my geeklist: My Interests for Spiel 2025

Looks as though I’ll be going (it had been somewhat in doubt, it’s been an expensive year). Working for Indie Boards & Cards as usual, but taking my time off on Thursday and Friday when he halls are a bit less crowded.

Won’t be there. Conflict with another flight somewhere. Enjoy the show!

Happy to haul stuff back for people within reason - as usual I’ll be going by car.

What I haven’t got this time is an exhibitor parking space inside the Messe, so options for storage will be very limited.

I’ll be working at 3-T300 Indie (except Thursday afternoon and Friday morning) and happy to chat, though whatever I’m demoing has to come first.

Starting to believe this is actually going to happen.

My best friend is going again this year. Told her I know someone demoing and told her your stand

On the way through the Asmodée hall on the way out this evening, I noticed that they’d rigged up extra-bright lighting rather than the standard. As I walked past demo tables, their people were standing around looking vaguely dazed; one in particular was just unconscious-upright like a pithed frog, until someone came to her table and she visibly switched on. Glad I’m not working for them!

But the big news: for the second year running, no fried potato spirals.

Just ran into JC Bouvier (Rallyman) and had a good natter. I had no idea he was here.

If they had said at the end “by the way, we need you for four more days” I’d have signed up. I love Spiel.

I have already blocked a vacation day for next year. I’ll be back in 2026
