I was initiailly uninterested as I have the original game, but that does look quite nice. Might look at what I could sell my version for so I could get a copy that actually gets played, because it fits in my bag.

Mostly I’m just despairing at the stupidity of some of the YouTube comments. It’s understandable that some would be upset that SU&SD have moved away from only relying on donations, but saying this “sounds like an ad” or asking if it’s “another paid review”?? The entirety of the video is about how they worked on the game! It couldn’t be clearer what they’re saying!

As well as people complaining about shipping costs, as if the publishers are being greedy, rather than international shipping being terrible for quite a while now.

Have to admit I spent the first half of the video wondering, “why are they covering this?” Then Matt asked “Why am I here telling you about this now?”

I’m glad you’re out of touch with the crap people believe in. Let me summaries it for you:

prices go up = corporate greed.

prices go down = corporate generosi- I’m just kidding

Matt’s evil adviser is just reminding me that I really enjoy the power behind the throne concept (War of Whispers etc), and if this feels anything like that role then I’m interested.

The graphic design changes in the new edition look great too.

It’s clear to me that the reason for the smaller box is the lack of hats.

I rather suspect that the person most likely to play this with me will be picking this up themselves, so I’ll just wait for that :).

I think the problem here is that you pay more for two leg shipping with no middleman (crowdfunding) than you do for 3-4 leg shipping with a distributor and/or retailer taking cuts of the profits.

Yes, some people have never realized that free shipping is an illusion, and most paid shipping is subsidized by the price of the product. And some other people haven’t realized that you could, in fact, copy this in crowdfunding and raise the price of the pledge by $10, charge $7 “shipping,” and make everyone happy. That’s a thing.

But the sheer math of how a more efficient supply chain costs 80% is a valid complaint.

And more generally “I get to keep my money until I can actually have the thing, and then it’s at a specific price which I can accept or reject”.
