Does anyone want to play Antiquity on Boardgamecore?

I’d certainly want another play.

Same here, I wouldn’t be able to play a game like this in real time, so I appreciate that it’s there. So did you enjoy your game? If you plan to make a Vassal module it at least sounds that way.

@mr.ister to build.

Yeah, I think there’s a lot more to explore. Vassal seems necessary to do it in a more freeform way, with the actual pieces. The downside to Vassal, of course, is that it doesn’t run on a phone…

@pillbox, I like that you are sparing the brewery.

It wouldn’t be a thematic experience if I didn’t!

I just got kicked out after my pollution step and no the game doesn’t show up on my list of active games. So I guess that’s it?

Again, congratulations for a well-deserved victory, @Benkyo! I don’t think I have seen such a nicely laid-out city in any of my games before.

Congrats, @Benkyo!

Cheers. Yes, I have the game in my finished games list now. Funny that my layout was originally intended to hold a harbour and a university, and no graves… and the Alchemy should definitely have been delayed to the second city to spare my cart. If it is nicely laid-out, that’s mostly down to luck.

I have a plan all lined up for another game, but only until about Turn 3, where I can sort of see it going horribly wrong, but I’m sure there’s a way to make it work.

Anyway, progress is being made on the Vassal module, but for playing mostly on a phone with the forum for notifications and no trading… boardgamecore might be better anyway?

I’m up for another game, but this time using a private chat to notify turns. @pillbox, can you delete all the turn notification posts? Or should I just start another Antiquity thread, and let this one die?

@pillbox, I know you are, and @mr.ister, I know you said you might not be, but who is up for a game? @EnterTheWyvern, @lalunaverde @Captbnut

Great. So, pillbox, you, myself, and maybe one more? (what’s your boardgamecore account name, @lalunaverde?)

I bet the famine is hoooorrible with 4 players. Maybe we should stick with three?

It looks like you’re full, but I’m up for a game at a later date. I’ve just registered on there, same username.

I can do two in parallel. 2 player or more?

(I do kind of recommend 2 player for a first game)

By the way, on the latest SUSD podcast there’s a 20 min bit where Ava talks pretty excitedly about Antiquity. I’m really happy that this gem gets some coverage.

Just listened to it. Nice podcast, and quite a coincidence!

@mr.ister, or anyone else with a copy, could you provide decent resolution, in-focus, photos from directly above for all the grave and house tiles? Or, even better, scans?

I have most of the images I need, but not these.

I have access to an office printer to scan the tiles, maybe that could work? Otherwise I could take pictures.

However, do we need permission by the publisher if we use their art assets? I have no idea how copyright law and all that stuff works.

I have permission from Joris (cc’d to Jeroen, Splotter):

Hi Ben,

yes, as long as the module and the platform are fully free to play for all users, you can create a module. Our policy is that people can create online versions, as long as this is done as a hobby and no one (platform holder, module maker) is earning money; we do allow asking for voluntary donations. This means that we periodically ask all tabletop simulator modules to be shut down, but free implementations like this one or Boardgamecore: http://play.boardgamecore.net/ are allowed. Note that Boardgamecore also has an Antiquity implementation, so it is already possible to play it for free online.

Best regards,

Joris

(Also note that boardgamecore uses official art for FCM and TGZ)
