Decrypto - Communicate Safely

Well, “open the door” was just a straightforward nice clue for “skeleton key” → “skeleton”, so no redundant words there, at least.

“Soy” is the only clue that doesn’t fit at all with my guesses, but it’s possible it was thrown in as a misdirect, with no real connection to the keyword at all. Wish I could come up with a better explanation, but nothing comes to mind.

My best guesses, laid open for all to snigger at:

Wheel
Forest - “black” forest
Private Eye/Detective - bat “cave”?
Skeleton - “Dippy the Dinosaur”

Of course, as I am responsible for our loss, you are all probably better off ignoring me.

I think these are correct, unless everything else we’ve got is wrong.

Cave doesn’t make sense to me

Bat cave and detective doesn’t make sense? Batman?

I mean it doesn’t fit with either (suspected) keyword for me, especially as these are obvious clues. Which means I’m way off on at least one keyword.

I think it fits better as you have it, rather than with “street, roll” etc.

Bat and Cave obviously link - at least better than any other word I can think of (Troll?).

Oh, I wouldn’t put it past RossM to make the clues reasonably obscure, to win with flair instead of just guaranteeing a win. Not so the team get confused, of course, but just enough to misdirect us.

I think this is the first game when @RossM hasn’t tried to kill me, so I’m taking the positives

Happy to have Yashma weigh in and get this wrapped sharpish! I feel very much lost at this point.

Sorry for only getting here now. We were hiking (almost pointlessly) throughout the day.

In any case. My only addition to what was said is that caves are made from rock and the Beatles make Rock Music.

I do not know anyone named Dippy. So I cannot relate to that at all. Otherwise I would have assumed something along the lines of nachos and salsa. So since we have been assuming food to be the thing with cake…. I would have to abandon my clue for cave, I prefer my first idea.

Black could be noire as in detective or Batman as a comic character or it could be associated with the darkness surrounding all those skeleton clues.

Dippy is famous in the UK. It’s definitely skeleton

I agree with @Benkyo"s initial thought. 243

Sounds good to me

Looks like that’s locked in.

We’ll lock in 2-4-3 as well.

Is this the bit where I reveal it was 234?

Hahahahaha

Alright alright, I’ll be the one to drop the charade and confirm we had 2.4.3. That means Team A earns their first interception! No strike for Team 1, however, so the game is called.

Team A manages to avoid getting skunked at the end here, but a big congratulations to Team 1 for outlasting them in what turned out to be a marathon game!

I’ll let you all openly groan about your guesses and keywords. Hope you enjoyed this 30 minute game for the last 3 weeks! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You people sure know some obscure Peter Falk facts….

Well played everyone. I thought we had the upper hand, but then you just had me utterly confused for the last few. As I said a few times, I think I became less confident the longer this game went on, which I’m sure isn’t what is supposed to happen.

Thanks @VictorViper for running this. You must have had a number of spit your coffee out moments watching us discuss.

What were your keywords?

I think I’ve got the order right for our guesses
Wheel/ baker
Forest
Eye (although I very much doubt that. Hole?)
Skeleton
