Decks of traditional playing card decks

The drawback with writing a book about playing cards and divination is, you end up collecting playing cards. Individually it’s a cheap hobby but there are 100,000,000+ nice decks out there so it’s a problem.

The prettiest deck I have is probably this one from UUSI, who are a US art studio:

This is a Shakespeare themed deck called Thorns and Roses where every court card is a major character:

Here’s a nature theme:

The fancy “Royales” from Kings and Crooks, I think this was a kickstarter:

A very silly kickstarter called “The Eye of the Ocean” which has a full treasure map on the cards which you need to solve alongside the booklet and the first people to write to the author with the solution got a prize:

And the very cool 1754 “Cries of London” showing people selling their wares in London. Features people yelling “BUY ALL MY PIES” etc.

(More of this deck in my post years ago here)

You mentioned other cards and the majority of my collection (and the best art) are Tarot and Lenormand cards. I also have Hanafuda and others.

Playing cards / Tarot art is AWSOME these days and everyone should go look to see if there are decks you’d like.
