A Touch of Evil - PBF Game 1

No - like many of these game sit can take a few turns to get some equipment and currency (Investigation). The regular Minions don’t scale up so they get easier to face once you have a weapon or two, although your combat rolls have been fairly unlucky. If you get Investigation, see what is in the Blacksmith’s shop, or keep searching the corner locations for weapons, items and allies. Or take a chance and have a fight - these minions give you good Investigation rewards to buy stuff, so winning one or two fights can set you up nicely.

Is the Town considered one big space for counting movement, or would it be 4 movement to get to the Magistrate’s Office?

The Town has 5 distinct spaces, so yes it’s 4 to get to the Magistrates Office.

Okay, then I will go to the Magistrate’s Office, draw an Event, and pay 2 Investigation to try to increase Cunning. At the end of my turn, I will attempt to heal using my book.

@gmwhite999 asked for a die roll:
Anne Marie wanders to the Magistrate’s Office in town and draws the following Event card:

  • "I Think Not!" Play to cancel any Event card as it is played or to cancel any Event result on the Villain’s Minion Chart - OR play to prevent one source from moving the Shadow Track - OR play to cancel any Lair card as it played on the d6 roll of 5+.

She also pays 2 Investigation to try to improve her cunning by testing her Honor, rolling 3d6: 6 + 3 + 1 = 10.

Anne Marie is successful, so gains +1 Cunning. And with her increased Cunning, she flicks through her medical tome to try and heal herself, rolling [rolls 4d6]

Let’s try that again 4d6: 5 + 1 + 5 + 6 = 17

Another good roll - Anne Marie fully heals herself although sadly that extra heaing cannot be transfered. That’s more like it!

On to Isabella (@RogerBW), who first draws a free Event card, which is …

  • Just A Scratch. Play this Card when any Hero, Town Elder, Evil Elder or the Villain is about to take a Wound. Prevent that Wound. (The caption states “I’ve had worse!”)

Okay, you rolled a 1 for your movement, so are you moving or do you wish to linger and explore the Windmill again?

Isabella chooses to linger at the Windmill.

@gmwhite999 asked for a die roll:
Isabella’s lingering roll: d6: 6

@gmwhite999 asked for a die roll:
Isabella finds a …

  • Wicked Altar. The candles are still burning and the stench of death fills the air. Someone was just here … or maybe they still are. Make a Cunning 5+ test and gain 1 Investigation for every 5+ rolled. If any of the dice roll a 1, you are also attacked! Roll once on the Villain’s Minion Chart.

So, Isabella’s Cunning is 3 so that results in 3d6: 2 + 3 + 5 = 10

No attack but Isabella’s examination gains her 1 Investigation.

I don’t think she can do anything else this turn though, so on to poor Thomas (@RossM): where do you want to go with your whopping 8 movement - or do you wish to linger?

Like the blazing squad I will see you all at the crossroads.

That is a spectacularly dated and random reference

You’re talking to the person who played a vampire with a penchant for the village people and ran a shipping business crewed entirely by dogs.

A 19 year old hip hop reference is if anything too recent.

You are aware that putting you there will leave you right next to your nemesis Hound again? Sure about that?

Yep. I’m dinged up and at least this way I keep the hounds away from the rest of the Merry band.

@gmwhite999 asked for a die roll:
Fair enough. Newly emboldened, Thomas heads down to the Crossroads and rolls 1d6 getting a d6: 4

Thomas draws an Event Card, revealling …

  • Endurance. Play Immediately. Play this card on any Hero (inclduing yourself) to give them 1 extra Wound capacity.

Will you be playing this on yourself or someone else? And presumably your next action will be to try and gain the Investigation on the board, yes?

Is the wound capacity permanent?
