A PBF of Tobago + Volcano

Yeah, I know it’s on BGA (last time I played it was extremely buggy).

But the Volcano expansion is not on BGA.

Anyone up for it? Up to four players.

Is there a rulebook with the volcano anywhere?

The volcano expansion rulebook is on bgg I think, or you can get my pocketmod all in one.

I’d be interested. I’ve never played before but I’ve read through the rules. The base game looks reasonably simple, while the Volcano looks like it gives quite a lot of scope for shenanigans.

Two isn’t great, but I’ll kick it off it we get three.

I’ll join, but I’ve never done a PBF board game (RPG, yes, but not BG), so I don’t know how the logistics work.

Basically I act as the gaming substrate; I’ll set up private message threads for the stuff that isn’t public.

I’ll give it a go.

I’ve edited the top post to include rules links. Ask me questions at any point!

Here’s the map. I’ve randomised tiles and placed the volcano in the middle (dark brown). Other terrain is beach (yellow), scrubland (light green), forest (dark green), lake (pale blue), mountains (grey), river (dark blue on pale yellow)

Randomised play order is:

  • Sexagesimalian
  • RossM
  • Assussani

First step wil be to place edge lava tiles. You’l get a tile with two bits of normal terrain and one bit of lava. You need to place it such that:

  1. one of the bits of normal terrain is on a matching bit on the island
  2. the lava is on another island hex
  3. the other normal terrain covers part of the ocean (mid blue).

@Sexagesimalian, your terrain tile is

mountain + beach
over lava

or, on the other side,

scrubland + forest
over lava

Please let me know where you’d like to place it.

RossM, your choice will be

river + forest
over lava

or

scrubland + mountain
over lava

Assussanni, you get:

mountain + forest
over lava

or

beach + forest
over lava

Aren’t triads supposed to be put in reverse player order?

Anyway, here ya go:

They don’t seem to care, and it doesn’t matter much.

@RossM?

Just at Marwell zoo. I’ll review rules and post tonight

Does this work?

OK, on to @Assussanni.

I’ll go with this, assuming it is valid to cut off part of the ocean from the rest:

Right, now the setup of huts, trees and statues. Let’s continue in player order for this, one object at a time, so @Sexagesimalian next. There are:

  • 4 huts
  • 3 trees
  • 3 statues

They must each be placed in a hex:

  • Not on volcano or lava
  • Not where another object is
  • No closer than 4 hexes to another object of the same type
  • If a statue, facing a specific hexside

Also, Statues may not be placed adjacent to the ocean.

It would be nice to have these hexes numbered.
Our ATVs should be placed on the hex we placed that covered up the ocean. It would be good to see these at this point.

My hex that covered the ocean should be forest. I think it is coloured as scrubland at the moment?

Any preference for player colours? Red/yellow/green/blue.
