You can always put some on as a job lot. I did that when I had a bunch of small box card games which probably wouldn’t fetch much individually.

Today, I am very tempted to let myself off the hook.
I know several reasons why. And some why not.
I just should not. Instead, I should plan which of my existing games I can play tonight.
(I admit to having played so much Digital Gloomhaven that I never got to anything else on recent evenings)
Just trying to give myself a reason to definitely not give in.

That FB group are a bunch of nice people, but many in that group seems to make board gaming their entire personality, that it turns me off. I only stayed for the bargain sells.

I’ve mentally checked that into I’m on a group to chat about boardgames, so it’s gonna seem like everyone is only into boardgames unless they get a meeple tattoo/cushion/highlight every mention of a boardgame everywhere.

Maybe this week-end I have the energy to put up another batch of games for sale 
If I am honest with myself, I know which games are going to get played.
Getting rid of ones that will not, feels good.
Although I admit the big package with Among the Stars is hard (tried to post it yesterday but packstation was full and so I carried around the 6kg package for nothing and now my arm hurts). Luna Capital isn’t that bad. Among the Stars has a broken token insert and some deluxification and I suspect that Carpe Diem is not a bad game and we enjoyed Goa back then. But none of these will see the table over so many other games I own and none of them hold any collector’s value(*) to me.
(*) need to debate that with myself what is “collector’s value” and does it let me label games as “keepers” even if I have either never played them or know I will never play them again? I have definitely bought some games more because I want to own them than I want to play them. (I suspect I am not alone in this though I also completely understand those of you who will stare wide-eyed at the craziness)

There are some Keepers. Definitely. I have a few 18xx that I want to keep, despite the fact that I won’t get those copies played (mostly because Wyvern owns a wide library of them). Those I want to keep because they are my faves rather than anything. A few 2 player big games like Twilight Struggle[1], War of the Ring 2, and Napoleon’s Triumph are keepers for that same reason too. I haven’t played Imperial Struggle yet.
I might get rid of Polis: Fight for the Hegemony (2020 edition) as it is a 2 player, despite it being a banger.

Yes brutal. Quite. They downsized a lot. seems to be the season. My goals aren’t quite as harsh but I do not expect as much incoming as they probably have just because of review copies.

When I looked at the titles on his list of games he’s culling, at least three made me outraged that he’s getting rid of them

Interesting. They were really starting to delve into the heavier side of the hobby, but a lot of those are on the chopping block.
Perhaps… You just don’t need that many “heavy” games

Efka did mention that they were getting rid of a lot of 18XX stuff because they were the more “beginner friendly” games and they’d moved on.

I understand 1861: Russian Empire and 18Cheese. But 1844: Switzerland and 1830 are brutal.
EDIT: to give the benefit of the doubt, no point on keeping a lot of 18xx, as I have said above
I saw some titles there that made me internally go “oh man”. But different taste for different people innit?

The impression I got was that for them a lot of the fun was in exploring a new game, and those were the ones they’d played.

I am not surprised they cut Mechs vs Minions because after you finished the campaign once, it feels like the value goes down and they especially talked about that. But it is such a beautiful and kinda unique game. But that’s what culling is for, I guess
Coup made me kinda sad too, just because it was our to go game for several years but these years are long gone somehow… on the other hand I still have an original copy of Coup (and not the imo ugly scifi version), so I would not throw it out alone for that. It is also super small.
Getting rid of games for me would be influenced by the space they take up. It is easier to keep a small game over a big one I think.
Maybe I should do some culling, just to get rid of all the dead weight. It also sounds like fun to be honest: Thinking about games, evaluating them, deciding between them…

It is. It is. I cannot recommend geekgroup.app enough for that if you are someone who can do it without holding the boxes in your hand to test if they bring you joy.
And deciding to let go of games, as Efka said, makes you feel good. Maybe even better than buying new games.
I just like curating my collection so much. And that… goes both ways.
