Got Svensdottir, my highest rated deck, into action. The deck may be good but the player has room for improvement, getting trounced 6 times out of 7 when playing in Competitive mode on TCO

Masque of the Red Death, Word Nerd
Masque of the Red Death was a big hit, so much so that we immediately played a second game. It was all a bit too thematic when one of the players tested positive the next morning though
Word Nerd from 1979 was found during a KonMari of my parents garage and is a nice little game that will get plenty more plays.

Not much progress really. Doing better on whittling down the unplayed games but still 22 to go!
The most successful goal for this year so far is not buying any new games!
I quit on Senators. It’s good fun and played it some more, but I noticed that I end up bringing other fillers instead like 6 Nimmt or The King is Dead or Razzia!. Quitting on some of these does feel like “cheating” but it made me realised how much will I have on playing them repeatedly.
I made my 10x10 a few years ago with some intensive solo plays in late December, and found there’s nothing better for souring me on a game I’d previously liked.
My 20x5 is still going pretty badly, probably because I’m not really trying! Still haven’t bought any new games though, and we are getting through the backlog of unplayed games. I thought I’d see how many of the BGG 52 prompts challenge I’ve managed accidentally:
Play your favourite prompt from 2016: A game by a female designer Tussie Mussie
Play your favourite prompt from 2017: a game with a bad rulebook Pendragon
Play your favourite prompt from 2018: set in a country you have never visited: Holi
Play your favourite prompt from 2019: with a boat or submarine in it. Deep Sea Adventure
Play your favourite prompt from 2020: Play a game that is set in a fictional location Everdell
Ah thanks for the reminder this is a good one, I think I can fill out about half. Surprisingly difficult though to allocate which game goes to what category. At least I got one that matches 5 other categories: A Feast for Odin works with #17#52#48#43 (if you count whales?) #35 and it is rank #22 right now and silver is also points. (I need to finish two in-progress games to post my own )
Maybe something like “Hanafuda” or “Mahjong” where the rules are English but the cards/tiles use Japanese/Chinese characters?
Or maybe something like Torres 1st Edition, which used German on all the cards and provided English translations in the rulebook?
You could argue that the alphabet in Star Wars is different than the language in whatever game you are playing… ditto with Dwarvish or Elvish or what-have-you…
Ticking along nicely, and the tide card is now working for me on TCO, so the DT decks are back in business.

Michael Strogoff, TINYforming Mars, Spring Meadow, Elder Sign
Michael Strogoff is quite tense. TINYforming Mars was fun to construct and is adequate solo. Looking forward to trying both with two players as this should improve the experience. Spring Meadow is the simplest of Uwe’s trilogy, nevertheless Tetris with added marmots is really rather satisfying.
Nothing from the list for August, sadly. I’m chatting with a friend about starting a small Battletech campaign, though, so with some luck I should be able to finish that in September.
Managed to win Mage Knight for the first time ever, though, so that was nice. And got Oathsworn and Bardsung, both of which I am excited about trying.
I just kinda need life to calm down a little. And stop being so expensive, if at all possible. Please. That would be nice.
Okay, nothing off this list either. I don’t think I actually played anything new this month… still a fair number of TTRPGs (STA and D&D), but that’s it.
Oh well. Still 1/3 of the year remaining… plenty of time…
Don’t think I’m going to make 10×10. There are a few more one-day gaming things I can get to this year, but no more weekend play-focused conventions. Whatever I’m demoing at Essen will certainly reach 10.
