If I sign in again, will the problem re-occur? (in other words, is the only way to avoid this to only ever use a “guest” account on my work computer? That seems wrong.)
Does this still happen when you „sign out“ of your Profile in Chrome? You wrote that you just want to log out of gmail. I don‘t think the two can be separated. You‘re either logged into Google services in Chrome or signed out. Chrome is Google.
Maybe, I don‘t quite grasp the situation. But you have a computer at work that everyone can just boot up and get at everything in there? That just feels so ….wrong.
My boss announced on Monday that someone would be replacing him - he didn’t mention who.
So I’ve had a couple of my team bring it up in conversations with me this week. I’m keeping my lips sealed for the moment but I’m pretty sure at least one of them has a suspicion it will be me.
So, I got the job.
I won’t get paid for doing it until I’ve done it for 6 months.
I have to laugh or I’d cry.
Congrats? Like, congrats you got it. But not getting paid tho
Interesting motivation technique. Congrats though.
Is this like how at my work you have to be working at the grade above your actual grade for a year before you’re allowed to apply for promotion?
They were clearly impressed with your missile calling skill.
I’ve been doing that for the entire of the pandemic, apparently not enough.
I’m essentially on probation for six months which I’ve never heard of in our company…
Sounds sketchy…
Agree that it sounds sketchy I would pester them half way through for a performance discussion. Get them in writing to agree your meeting the role before the 6 months are up.
Or I just have trust issues.
My yearly performance review came at an opportune moment today. Told them to sod off. (I wasn’t that rude, but only just.)
Yes, it still happens if you are signed out of your profile (Google services) in Chrome, which is why I found the situation so inexplicable.
Turns out I needed to set something to purge cookies each time the browser is closed. That’s signs me out of everything, which is probably for the best.
I’ve been working with an extremely difficult customer over the last few weeks (actually I think months now).
He’s been tasked with integrating a new feature in our software product into their product. It should be a fairly straightforward task, there’s copious documentation and sample code.
I’d expected there might be the odd thing that needs explaining but for every little thing he calls me and blames our software.
That wouldn’t be so bad if he had basic software engineering skills. I’ve spent so much of that time showing him how to debug code or do basic problem solving. Did I mention this guy is a contractor?
Nearly every call starts with him thinking he’s found an issue with our code, so I sit there and listen to him and point out where he’s going wrong. Normally that ends up with him asking me fundamental questions about their software design.
Eventually he goes off to have a think. If I’m lucky I won’t hear from him for a few days, but then he’ll send an email to his boss insinuating that my team isn’t helping enough.
Do any of you currently use a Firefox extension that allows changing css for websites? Do DeveloperTools maybe let me “fix” a css permanently (I know I can edit but it’s all gone on a reload?)
Milan-spiele.de used to be one of my favorite boardgame shops until they made a new website and their style includes something that is even worse than “comic sans”… => “balloon”
That font hurts my eyes so badly, I need a solution.
All the stuff I found quickly, looked a bit fishy to me.
I am tempted to write to them and tell them their new layout is actively keeping me from buying games there. Yes, that does help keeping my collection in check. Still… ouch.
Stylus – Get this Extension for 🦊 Firefox (en-GB) should do what you want, I think.
Thank you so much. This is much much better.
.midCol .productList .product .text .title,
.midCol h1,
.midCol .newProducts .product .title,
.midCol .slider .slide .title,
.midCol .detail .slide .title {
font-family: Arial !important;}
The extensions I found all had that little “we’re not monitoring this” label on them and since I tend to install things, configure them and forget about them, I would rather have one that came with a bit more trustworthiness.
I looked up one I used to use and saw a bunch of negative reviews saying to use Stylus instead
IIRC the older extension was sold to someone who used it to track user data, and people noticed.
Which one are you referring to? I found several and my partner suggested Greasemonkey (I dislike Greasemonkey it wants to do everything and has been a pain to use in the past)
I clicked a round for a bit and found a new anti-tracking one that I didn’t know yet: Clear Urls removes the tracking bits from Urls. That’s nice because I tend to run into this when I share stuff. Works fine on emails from Kickstarter ![]()
