Talon PBF 1: The Duel and 2: War Is Upon Us

Fore and starboard shields gone, two damage, so -1 to power.

If you think that’s right, go ahead with the power phase for next turn.

(Sorry, that’s one more through from the front, so one more box crossed off Napoleon’s damage track. No further effects though.)

Okay, Power Phase…

Napoleon gets 1 Red charge on each of its weapons, Zhukov gets 1 Red Charge on its Torpedoes (Phasers are still charged).

Napoleon adjusts its power curve to be 4 - 2 - 1, meaning it’s final curve is 3 - 2 - 1
Zhukov adjusts to 4 - 2 - 1

“Woof, looks like Napoleon is getting the business, sir.”
“Historically accurate battle, then.”

Justice remains at 3-3-1. Unity accelerates to 2-4-2. Similar passive red charging.

Sorting out impulses for the turn:

Ship Power A B C D E F
Napoleion 3-2-1 AP move AP AP, move
Zhukov 4-2-1 AP AP, move AP AP, move
Justice 3-3-1 AP, move AP, move AP, move
Unity 2-4-2 move AP, move ,move AP, move

I’m going to shift the representation to show charged weapon boxes as filled (like batteries) and uncharged as empty.

2.A.1 for you.

Zhukov spends AP to Charge Batteries.

No movement, no firing.

“Bring your pretty face to my phasers, monster…”

Impulse A to you, my noble adversary!

Unity moves, turning to port.

2.B.1, Napoleon has AP.

Napoleon uses its AP to charge its Starboard Phasers.

No movement, holding fire.

Back to you for Impulse B.

Justice AP enables sideslip.
Justice sideslips, is now free to turn.

2.C.1 Zhukov has AP, both Terran ships move; Unity will AP and move.

@Marx asked for a die roll:
“What do you mean, TOO CLOSE to shoot?”
“Well, sir, the Phasers require a minimum distance to arm.”
“… arm.”
“Yessir.”
“The beams of coherent energy require a minimum distance to become dangerous…?”
“Ah, so you do understand. Good.”
“… am I allowed to throw you out an airlock?”
“No, sir. General Article 18.”
“Bah.”

Zhukov spends AP to Side Slip.

Napoleon Turns Right.

Zhukov slides starboard/Right.

Weapons!

Zhukov fires Starboard Phasers at Unity
Range 1, hitting Unity’s Right side. Rolls of 1 inflict 1 damage, all others inflict 2:
d6: 6

Napoleon fires Starboard Phasers at Unity
Range 2, hitting Unity’s Right side. Rolls of 1-3 inflict 1 damage, 4+ inflicts 2 damage (I think, I don’t have the player reference with me at work)
d6: 2

Kapow!

Sorry, Napoleon is now at Range 1, not 2, so that hit should inflict 2 damage.

End result is 4 Damage to Unity’s delicate Right side.

Unity powers up starboard disruptors. Moves, no turning.

2.D Napoleon and Zhukov have AP; Justice has AP and move; Unity moves.

@Marx asked for a die roll:
Huh. Did you know that there is no way to recharge shields during a fight?

TIL.

Okay! Let’s see what we can salvage…

Zhukov spends AP to Power Through a Turn.

Napoleon spends AP to charge Port Phasers.

No movement.

Weapons:

Napoleon fires its freshly charged Port Phasers at Justice.
Range 1, hitting Left side, hits of 1 inflict 1 damage, 2+ is 2 damage.
d6: 5

Whakow!

Zhukov holds fire because your Front Shields are beefy beef that I don’t wanna deal with any more without Antimatter Torpedoes.

Over to you!

Justice uses AP to charge a single box of portside disruptors.
Both Talon ships move straight, both are free to manoeuvre.

2.E nobody gets any moves or AP.

@Marx asked for a die roll:
Zhukov fires at Justice, my Port Phasers into its Left Side.

Range 1, hits of 1 inflict 1 damage, 2+ hits for 2 damage.
d6: 3

Shabam!

(Asides: Zhukov no longer has Reinforced Shields, and Napoleon’s Port phasers have discharged)

No firing from me.

2.F everyone gets AP and move.

Zhukov spends AP to Defend Initiative.

Napoleon spends AP to Power Through a Turn.

Movement:

Napoleon Turns Starboard/Right.
Zhukov moves forward, inhales deeply of the Napoleon’s NFTL exhaust. Coughs politely.

No weapons are charged.

Over to you!

Unity powers port disruptors. turns to port,
Justice powers port disruptors, moves straight.

Power phase I think.

I believe you are correct.

Both ships charge all Red Power for all weapons (Finally, Antimatter Tor… oh, not yet? But almost? Fine… kicks rock sadly).

Power curve for both ships stays the same.

Over to you.

Unity’s power curve is back to 3-3-1.

Passive charge gets me two blocks per weapon group (because they have two weapons in them).

Unsurprisingly I now have software for this:

Ship Curve A B C D E F
Napoleon 3-2-1 AP move AP AP, move
Zhukov 4-2-1 AP AP, move AP AP, move
Justice 3-3-1 AP, move AP, move AP, move
Unity 3-3-1 AP, move AP, move AP, move

3.A Zhukov has an AP.
