Star Trek Ascendancy game 4

Build Phase:

  1. Buy 1 Ascendancy using 5 culture
  2. Sacrifice 2 ascendancy and colonize Mazar and Weytahn. Using my Communications Network advancement, I build a node for free at each: I build a Research Node on Weytahn and a Culture node on Mazar.
  3. I also build a Production Node, on Weytahn.
  4. I build 6 ships at Rog and form them into a Science Halitra
  5. I improve my weapons at the cost of 6 research

Command Phase

  1. Consular Halitra at Earth bids farewell to the Federation and goes to warp.

2&3) Add one warp token to the ship at Coridan III, which should be enough to get it to Weytahn hopefully.

  1. Place an Ambassador at Weytahn

5 & 6) The (I think 1 remaining) ship at the Mutara Nebula goes to warp and add warp token to it please.

Oh. A bit of a problem here.

You can’t colonise Weytahn until the exploration card under it has been resolved. So you or someone will need to get a ship there (in a command phase) before colonising.

Also: there’s no production node slot on Weytahn.

Also: the ship at Coridan has 3 warps already, plus your two warp advancements, so that’s enough to get it to Weytahn with a single command.

I think this changes things enough that I shan’t resolve any of it - let me have a new set of orders keeping the bits you want to keep.

I did not notice the card under weytan at all. In future games can they be on top of the system or something ?

Yes, I agree that’s difficult to spot.

It doesn’t come up often (needs a world with a hazard, and no ship survives the hazard) but I agree. Perhaps a halo round the system disc, something of that sort?

That is definitely more noticeable. Although given how rarely it comes up, a white text “Unexplored” written across the planet similar to the “Asc +3 to colonise” we currently have on the board would probably work fine.

As @Assussanni

Yes I think both the border and the writing would help it stand out.

Okay, let’s sort this out, shall we?

Build Phase:
Buy 1 Ascendancy using 5 culture
Sacrifice 2 ascendancy and colonize Mazar and Sherman’s Planet. Using my Communications Network advancement, I build a node for free at each: I build a Research Node on Sherman’s Planet and a Culture node on Mazar.
I also build a Production Node, on Sherman’s Planet, paying the full cost
I build 6 ships at Rog and form them into a Science Halitra
I improve my weapons at the cost of 6 research

Command Phase

  1. Consular Halitra at Earth bids farewell to the Federation and goes to warp.
  2. The ship at Coridan III comes out of Warp at Weytahn and does the exploration thing
  3. Place an Ambassador on Sherman’s Planet
  4. The Science Halitra at Rog goes to warp
  5. The Scicnce Halitra comes out of warp at the Mutara Nebula
  6. The ship at the Mutara nebula goes to warp.

Does this work better?

In sum, we replace Weytahn with Sherman’s Planet and some other things happen instead.

Sorry about the quote thing, that was uninentional

I saw the background behind Weytahn but I honestly didn’t give it a second thought.

OK, build phase looks good.

  • C1 Consular Halitra goes to warp
  • C2 Ship from Coridan dewarps at Weytahn. Exempt from hazard because Vulcan. Exploration card:

Transwarp Beacon: move the nearest Borg Cube here, or spawn one if there is no Cube.

“Hi, Joe, we Borg come here your planet, peace, for, forgetting about war, everybody be friends now, you bet. Hello.”

Do you want to continue with C3-6 or alter the orders?

Vulcan captain raises an eyebrow.

C3: Vulcan ship warps out if this is something I can do? If not, I retreat at sublight as necessary (With the intention of coming out of warp at Benzar next turn. We;ll need to talk to the Federation about coordinating the defence of Benzar. I’ll also contribute the Consular Halitra that has just left Earth to Benzar next turn.

my previous 3-5 now become 4-6 and the ship that is at Mutara has its movement orders cancelled.

  • C3 ship at Weytahn enters warp.
  • C4 place ambassador at Sherman’s. Note that this is the last of your five ambassadors.
  • C5-6 Science Halitra warps to Mutara Nebula.

@RogerBW asked for a die roll:
Ships of Science Halitra are lost on (H5 + S0) double 5+:

  • pool 2d6: 2× 1
  • pool 2d6: 1, 3
  • pool 2d6: 1, 3
  • pool 2d6: 2, 3
  • pool 2d6: 2, 5
  • pool 2d6: 2× 2

I assume Research goes to Stone of Gol to complete it, otherwise let me know.

Very much so, thank you.

Card 6: Andorian (@Delwayne)

If you swap your culture trade agreement with your research agreement with me I’ll be able to upgrade weapons twice next turn)
