Star Trek Ascendancy game 3

Federation fleet disperses.

@RogerBW asked for a die roll:
Federation (translated): Never give up. Never surrender!

Federation ship needing 6: d6: 4
Klingon fleet needing 5s, rerolling 1s: pool 4d6: 3× 4, 5
Klingon solo ship needing 5: d6: 1

Federation ship destroyed.
Klingons have defeated 3 or more ships in a battle, and take 1 Culture.
Klingons follow-up move into Sherman’s, and integrate the lone ship into fleet 2.

Command #8: Klingon fleet 1 (8 ships, weapons 3+, shields 3) initiates space battle at Thonolan IV against Romulan fleet 2 (6 ships rerolling 1s) plus 4 individual ships, weapons 4+, shields 0).

Klingons hit on 3, Romulans can’t damage Klingons.

@RogerBW asked for a die roll:
pool 8d6: 1, 3, 3× 4, 2× 5, 6

7 hits!

I assume the Klingons focus their damage on the ships in the fleet, so there will be 3 individual survivors.

@Assussanni do you wish those three ships to retreat on impulse (if so, 1 or 2 spaces, and towards Romulus or Capella – all have to go to the same place), or fight to the death?

The survivors will retreat 1 space towards Capella.

Klingons gain a culture for defeating 3+ ships.
Klingons follow-up move into Thonolan IV.
Klingons would have two more Commands thanks to those victories, if not for those pesky Ferengi.
Klingons spend 5 culture for an Ascendancy.
FINAL ROUND, probably

Yep. We’re done unless someone can take The Klingon Homeworld

No actions from the Federation.

Card 7: Romulan (@Assussanni)

No actions from the Federation?! Boo.

Romulan Build Phase

Purchase 3rd Ascendancy (-5c).
Build 12 ships at Thonolan IV, forming 9 of them into generic fleet #1 and the other 3 into battle group #2.
Add research to Tal Shiar Monitoring Posts, completing it (-1r, +1c).
Upgrade weapons to hit on 3+ (-6r).

End build phase. 0p, 0r, 2c remaining.

Romulan Command Phase

Commands 1&2: generic fleet #1 warps from Thonolan IV to the edge of the Temporal Anomaly.
Command 3: generic fleet #1 initiates a space battle against the lone Klingon ship at the Temporal Anomaly. I believe the Romulans have 9 attacks, hitting on 6s with First Strike. If the Klingon ship survives it will return fire and hit on 3+. I will not retreat.

Hold up, you can just ignore the fleet at Thonolan!?

That can’t be right. The entire reason I moved into that system was to avoid exactly that. Otherwise I would’ve stayed at the doorstep so you’d have to engage them.

Edit: FAAAHHHHKKKK… 8.3 note. You can always move through systems you control regardless of enemy ships. Right there in black and white. Gods damnit.

Whelp. That both sucks and blows.

I think Advanced Cloaking can do that, but I don’t see Advanced Cloaking on the board.

It’s fine. I made a mistake, I should’ve known better. I think I’m still okay, although with the Romulans punching through most of my ships that will open the way for the Vulcans, theoretically.

Anyway! Carry on. Let’s see if I can blow up at least a few Warbirds (spoilers: unlikely).

Klingon ship is destroyed. Follow-up move, or next command?
