Star Trek Ascendancy game 3

Before I start my turn I’d like to point out it is my birthday and the dice have to be nice to me.

(Happy birthday!)

(I should remind people that there are three more “safe” system discs, after which Borg discs and exploration cards will be available.)

Ok.

Buy one ascendancy.

Build a research node

Build 7 ships on Ferenginar form into Loss interdiction task force (2)

Build three ships on Ferenginar and form into Commerce enforcement squadron (1)

Fleet two enters warp travels via valakis. Connects new space lane from valakis to singularity cluster. Exits warp.

@RogerBW asked for a die roll:
Space lane d3+1: 3

@RogerBW asked for a die roll:
Ships are lost on 3+: pool 7d6: 1, 3, 4, 2× 5, 2× 6

One ship survives; two Research gained.

Dammit I’ve done this in the wrong order.

I was supposed to start researching ‘never spend more on an acquisition than you have to’ first, so I could put the research into it.

Are there any objections to me retconning?

No objection from me.

I’m happy to take the start research as C1, C2-C3 the Doomed Singularity Cluster Expedition. (Get your Doomed Singularity Cluster Expedition commemorative hats, t-shirts, bronzed baby shoes…)

a friend of mine does gilded fruit. It’s even better than baby shoes.

Okay Command 4 and 5

Fleet 1 enters warp (free) ands a warp token and exits warp at a new system north of the neutron star.

@RogerBW asked for a die roll:
Space lane: d3+1: 3
System: Sherman’s Planet (PPO-3)
Exploration: Where No One Has Gone Before

Command 6

Starbase at Magna Roma

Card 5: Federation (@Canadian_Errant)

Build Phase:
Build 3 Ships at Earth, (-3P)
Build 2 Ships at Valakis VI (-2P)
Build Production Node & Research Node at Pallas 14 (-3P, -2R)
Put Research into Multi-Cultural Collaboration (-R)

Command Phase:
C1: Commission Colonization Fleet at Earth from 3 ships
C2: Send Fleet to Pallas 14
C3&4: Send Ship at Warp from Pallas 14 to Sherman’s planet

My intention is to swing Pallas 14 to the left, then hope that whatever the length for the warp lane to Sherman’s planet, it’ll allow me to then go to Dakala next turn.
C5 Ship goes to warp with the intention of coming out of warp and connecting to Dakala next turn
C6: Ship goes to warp from earth, with the intention of coming out of Warp at Yuri next turn.

if this is all a tangle of “it doesn’t work like that”, then we’ll unwind it to the point where it stops breaking the rules

As an addendum, could C6 be modified to:

Ship goes into warp at earth, to next turn either
a) Exit warp at Yuri directly, if the lane is the right length
b) transit to Yuri via Pallas 14 if the lanes fit that way
c) do some other not-as-yet-specified plan including exploring beyond Pallas 14 or stopping at Pallas 14 if everything just doesn’t work out space-lanes-length-wise

Sorry, I just realized that C2 breaks things. Please change it to C2: Colonization Fleet goes to warp.

Please change it to: C2: Ship from Valakis VI comes out of warp at Regulus V.

OK, there’s a trick you’re missing. When you build 3+ ships at a time, you can collect them into a fleet at once with no Command cost.

So the Build Phase goes:

  • build 3 ships at Earth, gather into Colonisation Fleet 2 (3P)
  • build 2 ships at Valakis (2P)
  • build Production Node and Research Node at Pallas (3P, 2R)
  • Research to MCC (R)

Command phase becomes:

  • C1 (was C2): ship in warp at Valakis dewarps at Regulus
  • C2-C3: one ship tries to warp from Pallas 14 to Sherman’s Planet.
