The restrictions as stated are indeed open to interpretation. I’ve seen a couple of clarifications from the designers:

- [Podcast #152 - Bashing The Reggies - #5 by Andy\_BadgersFromMars](https://discussion.tekeli.li/t/podcast-152-bashing-the-reggies/3111/5)
- [Shut Up & Sit Down Podcast #152 - Bashing The Reggies](https://www.shutupandsitdown.com/podcastle/podcast-152-bashing-the-reggies/#comment-5502366913)

But in the end…

> Beyond all of that though, it’s ultimately up to the group to decide what works for them. Playing with young kids? Just play open handed and help them out. Playing with grizzled TCG pros? No talking at all (except to abuse the player before you for doing such an obviously stupid move, despite you not knowing the content of their hand).

…and anywhere in the middle if (as you say) it’s agreed by the players, as a form of group-specific difficulty control.

I think we’ve played _this_ game very much at the intended end of the comms scale, and I think we’ve done fantastically well.
