Quick solo games

Also Small Fjords which is a small-box re-release of the original Fjords with a new solo mode added, and it’s lovely. The solo game is easy to play in around 15 mins. It’s a map-building tile-layer, and each turn you just draw and place a tile so that it matches every other edge that it’s touching. Along the way you’ll choose where to place your four houses, while attempting to surround each house with tiles containing vikings, and at the end of the game you get points for the longest unbroken coastline, and for each viking with a “walking” path to its house via the grasslands. That’s it. It’s quick, attractive, and enjoyable. There’s not a lot to think about, but sometimes that’s exactly what I want.
