It is actually quite bad. It easily avoids the traps, leaving a trail of bodies in its wake. First Officer Banalao does manage to identify the illusive beast, and tries to talk logic to it, but unfortunately it was still hungry after its long fast on the empty planet. The surviving security officers do manage to shoot it while it is feeding, but are not interested in setting phasers to anything other that lethal. A tragic day overall, for both Krater and the crew.

The mines on Janus IV are doing quite well, and Chief Gore is glad to get another Federation visit, especially from one so esteemed as Mr. Ferris! Production has been skyrocketing, as even the new hatch of acid-splashing aliens have joined the work with remarkable enthusiasm! They strike up a deal to expand the market for Paxilon Hydrochlorate across the broader Federation, and establish the outpost as a Federation Member.

Does the Federation Special Event ™ happen before choosing movement, or afterwards?
Oh, and am I able to get new security officers too when I recruit Colonel Teeth to the USS Starship-where-commanding-officers-have-less-than-50%-chance-of-making-it-through-the-night?

The Special Event ™ will happen immediately before your movement.
As for Security officers, you can replenish them at any of your star bases, at the cost of 1 Reputation.
