Leaving Earth (Base Game and Mercury) Pbf

Use Probe to obtain lunar sample, attach sample to Juno…

Minor Failure!!!

(What are the chances, really?)

Pay off failure $5

Buy Atlas £5

Buy 2 Junos £2

Launch Atlas, 2 Junos and Probe into Orbit on 2 stage Soyez.

Rendezvous Probe with Juno in earths orbit.

Fire Atlas to propel 2 Junos to Lunar Orbit.

Fire One Juno to propel the other to Lunar surface (Success), automatic success on landing

Link other Juno to Lunar sample and launch into lunar orbit (Success)

Couple Lunar sample to two Ion thrusters and fire in the direction of Earth Orbit. (Add one hourglass token.)

@yashima is up.

I am aware it is my turn. I have been fighting a headache… just thought I’d let you guys know. I hope to find brain-time for my turn today or tomorrow.

Step 0:

  • Pay back $1 loan to Roger, leaving me with $24

Step 1:

  • pick up a sample from Ceres with my probe
  • fire ion thruster towards Inner Planets Transfer
  • as far as I read the rules, the ion thruster needs to take 3 years instead of 2 to get back to inner plants transfer to compensate for the added payload
  • if I read the rules wrong, well, that’s that. Then I guess I’ll do something else.

Step 2:

  • Buy another Soyuz for $8
  • Buy 1 Vostok Capsule for $2
  • Build a two stage rocket with my 2 Soyuz which should give me a payload of 7 to LEO. The new spacecraft is called “The Reckoning” (Within Temptation once again)
  • Assemble Payload of 1 Vostok Capsules, 1 Ion Thruster, 1 Atlas Rocket = 7.
  • Finalize Joseph Walker’s training & drive him to the launchpad where he enters the Vostok Capsule with some trepidation mumbling something about heat shields and re-entry not being sufficiently tested and why are we not cooperating anymore with the Russians, he talked to his Friend Yuri and Yuri says the Russians build wonderful heatshields and we should just offer them something in exchange… as a last ditch attempt to improve Walker’s chances of returning to earth ISAS officials call @RogerBW (I can offer either fully tested Soyuz Rockets or Ion Thrusters)
  • Whatever the outcome of the talks, ISAS stays firm, the launch date is this year if there is no Russian heat shield we will simply have to take the risk because we promised the local media we would be the first to have a Man in Orbit and we are not going to disappoint them!

I’d really like them both. But I’ll take Re-Entry for Soyuz.

(Darn, messed up the timing on that loan didn’t I.)

sounds good to me.
let’s trade
with the Russian heat shield in place launch only had to be postponed by a few days and Walker now seems certain he can bring the craft to a safe landing

So launch The Reckoning
Then dock with my probe-station in orbit and leave the ion thruster and atlas rocket there for now.

question: my astronaut is a pilot. he can mitigate landing trouble. but a minor failure would still damage a spacecraft component. would the astronaut survive a damaged capsule during landing? if not I’ll take one of my spare probes with me that i can sacrifice.

so last step for this turn: Land the Vostok Capsule back on earth. if landing is a failure buy off. if a success do not.

i will pass for now but there are funds left so I need to regroup my thoughts on what else i do

Pilots can survive damaged landings, no need to bring another component.

How did you mess up the loan timing though? It was incredibly helpful allowing me to fully test Soyuz. In any case I had no idea then what I was going to do this turn except for the Ceres sample pickup. I’ve stopped planning ahead too much. I have a few rough ideas but like with most games I am winging it…

@RossM is my turn clear so far or do you need more information from me?

Paying it back gives me one money now, after I’ve taken my turn, when I can’t do much with it. Still, luck of the draw.

I am reasonably sure that I would have given it back immediately, or do I have to pay it back as part of my round? Sorry about that. Do you want me to keep the loan until next year? I am sure I can figure out a way to use $1 more (no idea what my rest turn looks like)

Goodness, no, I shan’t change the deal now!

Let me see if I can in some way use that $1 before deciding that

@yashima Step 1 Completed.

To confirm launching walker, vostock, atlas and ion thruster into Earth Orbit is step 2?

Then separate dock atlas and ion thruster with my „space station“ and then reentry and land vostock capsule

Which means…

$10 to @RossM, @pillbox and @RogerBW
