There’s a fairly big resurgence in people wanting older Warhammer Fantasy figures, partly due to the release of Warhammer: The Old World. If you want to maximise your returns, then breaking things down into separate eBay lots is the best (but most time intensive) way. I’ve had no issues passing on quite a few things that way. People will scoop up old Warhammer regardless of how well painted or not if the price is reasonable.

There are some companies that buy secondhand figures direct, but I only know of UK based ones. Facebook groups are another common buying/selling place, but I don’t have first hand knowledge I’m afraid.

Thanks to both of you for your advice!

I didn’t know there is a new Warhammer Fantasy! Fascinating it isn’t very old, came out 2024.

We have a Warhammer store in the city, will check if they buy used stuff. That would save me the shipping. We don’t really have local game conventions.

I have a few boxes still unopened. Some miniatures are well painted, some not at all (that was me 🤣). But because I hated painting most of it is either just glued together and unpainted or not even glued. I also have a lot of the original boxes (though opened).

I found some German forum posts about selling advice but they were from 2018 which is maybe a bit outdated but they also mention Facebook. In theory I have an account, not used in the last 15 years but I should still be able to login.

I need to get a better feeling for the market I think to understand what’s realistic.

Pretty much the only reason I still have a FB account is the local group organises on there and the best group for selling games is in there.

I try to avoid the main feed, it’s trash.

As you have Dogs of War I think different rules apply. Current plastics and recently replaced ones fit @Marx valuations. I think Dogs of War are rare and have become really valuable to collectors. If you want the most for them then paint stripping them and selling complete units in bare metal on ebay and allowing international shipping and you would rake it in. Obviously this is time intensive and you’d want to some [Biostrip](https://fuze-products.co.uk/guide/stripping-paint-off-miniatures-with-biostrip-20/). Although it’s time intensive Belladonna Lucrezzia alone would get you north of €60 and could be over €100. See the DoW section in this [video](https://youtu.be/hkSjssP26_g?si=BnzPpMz-iXQhl2X1) as an example.

I don’t know about the Empire troops being as valuable but they are one of the factions already released for Warhammer: The Old World so probably they’ll do ok if not as well as the Dogs of War. I think being situated in Europe will probably help as the nostalgia market hits back further than in North America.

The other place that is thriving for selling these is facebook. Finding an oldhammer group would be your best bet, particularly an international one. Maybe easier to sell job lots there.

If you have an official Warhammer store they won’t buy and sell old minis. If it’s an independent they might. Bear in mind these places need to make a profit and pay taxes so to them a fair price is much below the ultimate resale value. For you that could be ideal as it’s quickest. However I can’t vouch for these places existing outside the UK so it might be less ideal for you.

Overall though you are probably currently at an excellent time to sell them price wise so good luck

A side note for people selling stuff in/from the UK: You can get a “Click & Drop” account from Royal Mail which will let you buy postage online and print labels directly (for everything down to small letters), for a slight discount compared with stamps or buying at a counter. Posting means turning up at the Post Office, saying “pre-paid”, handing it over and getting the proof of posting. (Or if it fits in a post box you can drop it in there, but I tend to want the proof.)

You’ll need some scales of course, and if you’re me you may want to use a label printer; avoid the Dymo 5-series, which use chipped labels so you can’t use quarter-the-price third party ones, but a Dymo 4XL off eBay shouldn’t be super expensive, and that will print directly onto a 4×6 standard postage label.

I may overdo things a trifle. Mostly I use this workflow for sending out 3d prints. But it works well for games too.

Thanks a lot for your input! That’s very valuable information! Biostrip looks interesting for sure.

Funny enough, I even have a bare metal Lucrezzia Belladonna.

Will watch the video tomorrow.

I’m moving **Key Market 2e.**

Due to Keyflower, at some point I wanted to find more of Breese’s games.

Wins so far: **Key Flow** \*, **The Glade, Reef Encounter**
Duds or Declines: **Key Market, Keyper** (still waffling), **Keydom** (three editions), **Key Harvest** , **Populate the Earth.**

I’ve discovered a few things:

- Breese is very innovative. Keydom is argued as the first worker placement game - though the model wasn’t fully settled there. Key Market has a lot of great ideas (though it was co-designed).
- Breese rarely fully closes the deal. Others take his ideas, polish and package them better, and make a better game. Which is still respect to Breese, but you just have to leverage his strengths.
- Keyflower was co-designed by Bleasedale… and that may be the difference.

Bleasedale also designed On the Underground, which I’ve fallen in love with. And Black Fleet, which I haven’t played but looks quite good. Better together - Breese brings the original ideas and Bleasedale brings a Knizian focus and simplification to close the deal. You get Keyflower.

Here’s the deal with Key Market - you’ve got an interesting market with variable pricing, a fighty set of shared fields that everyone is trying to produce on, and a set of guilds that grant players asymmetric bonuses. Great on paper. In practice, the fight on the fields seems a bit scripted, the market isn’t volatile enough to be fascinating, and the guild developments don’t hook me.

For area control + tech tree - that’s **Beyond the Sun**. Tip the hat to Key Market for breaking some ground.
For developing farm production on a shared map with a volatile market and tight economy - that’s **Clans of Caledonia**. Another nod, though.
And lastly, for a good money = points game where you are trying to cover expenses, invest in growth, and actually win all at the same time (eating your chair as you try to sit in it, if you will) - I’ve got **Nations, Carnegie, Pipeline, and La Granja** that do that so well.

Which leaves Key Market as something of a museum piece. Great to experience, a valuable footnote, but not an object for the shelf.

\*Key Flow, of course, also being a Bleasedale and inheriting most of what Keyflower already accomplished.

According to BGG, Key Market is by David Brain, though it has art by Richard Breese’s sister Juliet.

Yeah - Brain designed the game and brought it to Breese, who then co-designed the final iterations (and published). They’ve never clearly delineated what state the game was in when Brain brought it to him. But yes, Brain’s name is on the box. At the same time it borrows a lot of mechanics from Key Harvest, so there’s definitely a degree of mixing.

I haven’t sold any games yet, but I emptied our shelves from a lot of games I want to get rid of. We barely (if even) play them anymore.

But the thought of dealing with people on Kleinanzeigen (Germany’s Craiglist) is very annoying. I wonder if I should use BGG. Are there fees on BGG?

There are also some games like Forbidden Stars or Battlestar Galactica which are out of print as far as I know.

So it may some time till I really sell games but at least I took the first step 😆 .

3% of sale price if you sell through BGG. If someone sees your listing there and contacts you not through BGG, that’s fair enough. Seems reasonable to me and I’m happy to pay them; I’m doing this to make space, not to make a profit, and I don’t have a lot of popular rarities I don’t want any more.

I’ve generally been glad to pay the fees because BGG becomes a very basic confidence filter.

I’ve had one sale over the years to a “newly registered user” (it was a spouse of an inmate who was trying to purchase **Empire Builder** in a way that could be delivered to a US federal penitentiary; I consulted with a lawyer friend (and **Empire Builder** fan) and was able to present the relevant documentation to allow the delivery of the game, new-in-shrink and ensuring it didn’t contain any contraband).

All other transactions that I’ve had as a seller on BGG were by established users with a multi-year history on BGG, whether active or not, that gives a stronger sense of community than any eBay account, in my estimation.

- **Brian Boru** – the extra copy I’d bought (in order to sell) when Osprey had a big sale.
- **Kingdomino Duel** – similarly added to an order a while back because I was confident of selling it for more (not much money, but enough to feel worthwhile to discount the shipping cost of that order).
- **Spaceshipped + expansions** – a Buttonshy wallet game that hadn’t clicked for me.
- **At the Helm** – ditto.
- plus a deck of cards I hadn’t liked.

By a supreme act of willpower (supported by an absence of willpower-breaking temptations) I managed to come home without any new purchases, other than a much nicer deck of cards than the one I’d sold. Which is good, because Brian Boru was the only box taking up any space to speak of in of the above list, and even that’s a pretty slim production, so probably any regular-sized purchase would have adjusted my shelf space in the wrong direction. I know it won’t last long, but I’ll take the momentary win!

Dropped some games off at a local buy/sell day. Took 56 games, sold 26 of them, so that’s a win. Much better than selling over FB. Didn’t even have to be there, just turn up at the end to take any stragglers home. I had hoped I wouldn’t be taking anything home, but there you go. Kind of wish I’d been there to look over the games, I’m sure I would have found something to buy.

My mate sold his Batman collection - 6 boxes of it. Sort of a shame we never got to play it, but I hear it had problems.

Definitely going to their next buy/sell day - scheduled for November. If i do this for ten years my collection might just reach a manageable size.

A few months ago I made different piles of board games. Most piles to sell. Then I took pictures, inside and outside.

Now I finally started putting them on German Craigslist. Right now I am sitting here having to press the publish button for Flamme Rouge. It is harder than I thought it would be. But it makes no sense to keep this one (or the other games).

Just wanted to talk about my conflicted feelings.
