How are you today?

I’m broken emotionally and for the third time, forever grateful for socialised healthcare

Daughter came back from a trip and started complaining about a stomach. Urgent Treatment Centre 1 suspected Scarlet Fever and prescribed penicillin. She improved slightly, so family minus me went on holiday. Daughter went down so Urgent Treatment Centre 2 sent them to provisional hospital. Provincal hospital did all they could but requested a patient transfer to major children’s hospital with suspected glandular fever or appendicitis. Cue the flying squad (pediatric medical transport) Due to how the NHS works this is frustratingly the second closest children’s hospital to our home.

Current diagnosis after X-Ray, CT and other tests is colitis.

This is all prepaid through taxation and the third time we have had a major issue with our children .

I went to a gig last night with my wife. I had fun and 3 pints and got home before 1. I still got woken up at 06:20 by my eldest and now I feel so rough. Maybe in a few years this will be more feasible…

Also my step daughter laughed at how old we sound when complaining about a DJ. Allegedly it’s now normal for 20-30 seconds of a song to be all you get between talking bits.

I don’t know if it becomes more feasible, but my kids are 18(19 at the end of the week) and 17, and we go to gigs with them and it’s wonderful

So it turns out she has Kawasaki Disease.

No known transmission routes, more prevelant in Korean and Japanese people.

Sympathies. The wikipedia entry sounds rather unpleasant or should I say nasty? Hope she gets better soon. :mending_heart:

I’m a fan of the matinee show for the over 30 crowd. Music down a few decibels, done by 7, in bed by 9.

Oh god, I hear myself.

Seriously, Death needs to take a holiday.

Peter Cullen, probably best known for being the voice of Optimus Prime, passed away on the 26th.

What an amazing quote for Peter Cullen to be remembered for: “His family asks that you honor his remarkable legacy by serving your communities and leading others with compassion, integrity, and loyalty and always remember, ‘be strong enough to be gentle.’”

(His elder brother Larry, who was a U.S. Marine, told him before the audition for Optimus Prime “Don’t play a shouty action hero; be strong enough to be gentle”).

Reminds me of this page from the Manga “Vagabond”

I’ll take that one with me, it’s really good.
Thanks for sharing this quote.

It’s not all heroes:
“Ratko Mladić, a former Bosnian Serb general whose actions during the Balkan wars of the 1990s earned him the nickname “the Butcher of Bosnia,” died Thursday in a Hague prison, at the age of 83. He had been imprisoned since his 2011 arrest and 2017 conviction for genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.”

It’s still a bad week for the elderly. The King of Norway died as well…

Update, more tests and it’s a weird Salmonella variant.

I have no idea if that is better or worse…
Salmonella are no joke.

Still wishing her a quick recovery. :mending_heart:

Kinda worse, UK infection control need to be notified.

Kinda better in that it can be treated correctly.

I was going to say, Kawasaki sounded like a misdiagnosis of COVID, but thought it better not to stick my oar in. Hope she gets the treatment she needs, and gets better soon!

I did get asked if she was tested for COVID. My wife was away and I had just arrived at the hospital, so I didn’t know.

Tonight I went to the local Georgian restaurant for a cookery class in how to make KHACHAPURI. These are bread boats filled with insane amounts of cheese, and an egg yolk and cold butter on top, all mixed together with a fork into an eating experience which can only be described as “Ooog (positive)”.

Lovely venue, had a great time, now know the secret of Adjari khachapuri (you use whey in the dough).

Then we got to eat our creations, with a glass of Georgian Saperavi wine. So much cheese. So much.

They are both exhausted
