Well, unless the goal is not merely to get what’s in S, but to have the scientist not be aware that anything untoward has happened.
That’s a special case of the goal being to have F in the scientist’s hands and S in the PC’s.
I have stuck a fork in this campaign: it’s done.
The player and I just don’t have the hang of one-on-one games. And I have fumbled the situation of this one into such a bad state that it’s going to be more trouble to recover than it is worth. My fumbling is probably the fault of my depressed mood and the concomitant cognitive deficit, but when I recover it will be easier to start something new than to salvage this.
I’m sorry to hear that it turned out so poorly. I hope you’re able to come up with a more satisfactory player population and/or a more rewarding campaign premise.
